I Remember last year some sort of sale like this one. they showed people standing in line for hours, and when the gates opened many got trampled on, I think someone died, anyone remember the story? and what it was that was on sale?

The rumor about someone being trampled to death in the rush for these sales is just that - a rumor. Urban legend if you will.
Although - having been a regular at black Friday sales for the past 7 years, it can be a little dangerous and scary. Two? Three? years ago, after I nearly got trampled in the bid for $20 DVD players at WalMart, there was reportedly a woman who DID get trampled, and was taken to the hospital. WalMart gave her a ton of free stuff so she wouldn't sue, and then it came out that this was the fourth or fifth time she'd been 'trampled' in these kind of sales, and it was all a scam she'd been running.
The best thing to do, if you really want this item or a similar limited quan y early bird item is to go to the 24 hour WalMart. They keep the items going on sale wrapped up, but crowds form around them beginning between 2-4:00 (depending on the scale of the deal). If you are early enough, you can get them and run.
Dell has been selling their bottom feeder laptop for $399 (after $100) rebate off and on for the past few weeks. This time it's on their small business site, but they really don't care about who is buying in case you want to avoid a trampling or two.
you know what? the heck with retail.
to have one built is so much cheaper, and if i ever really wanted retail?

I think the $488 one might be a little more tricked out and not limited to 5 per store.
I left the ad in the truck and I'm too damn lazy to go out and get it.
