The assessment by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) is that the health benefits from vaccination are marginally greater than the potential known harms. However, the margin of benefit is considered too small to support universal vaccination of healthy 12 to 15 year olds at this time.
It is not within the JCVI’s remit to consider the wider societal impacts of vaccination, including educational benefits. The government may wish to seek further views on the wider societal and educational impacts from the Chief Medical Officers of the UK 4 nations.
For the vast majority of children, SARS-CoV-2 infection is asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic and will resolve without treatment. Of the very few children aged 12 to 15 years who require hospitalisation, the majority have underlying health conditions. The committee has recommended the expansion of the list of conditions to which the offer applies for at-risk 12 to 15 year olds.
There is evidence of an association between mRNA COVID-19 vaccines and myocarditis. This is an extremely rare adverse event. The medium- to long-term effects are unknown and long-term follow-up is being conducted.

Texas Girl, 4, With COVID Dies in Her Sleep, Had No Pre-existing Conditions
Texas child Kali Cook, 4, is believed to have died from coronavirus, although Galveston County Health District is reportedly yet to confirm this officially.
Mother Karra Harwood told the Houston Chronicle that her child appeared fit and well on September 6, but later developed a fever before passing in her sleep in the early hours on September 7. Harwood told Fox8Live that Cook did not have any pre-existing conditions.
A medical examiner's officer said the 4-year-old had tested positive for coronavirus when she died. However, despite Galveston County Health District describing the child's passing as COVID-related, an investigation is yet to confirm the exact cause of death.
Newsweek has contacted Galveston County Health District and Harwood for comment.
Pending the investigation results, Cook may become the youngest county resident to die of the virus, which has claimed 472 other lives as of Monday, September 13.
Cook was a preschooler at K.E. Little Elementary School in Bacliff, Texas, but officials had confirmed the girl was in attendance on September 1, and authorities had never been notified of any coronavirus exposure or positivity.

So the article really says we cannot tell if the vaccine or the actual disease is going to do more harm to these children. We do not consider the larger societal impact and HEALTH impact (this is clearly implied). So the politicians have decided since they do know that keeping the kids at home if not vaccinated is a concern, and the fact that these children can be vectors for the SPREAD of the virus to the rest of society is of CONCERN.
So this is clearly a tough call when the science of this study is ONLY considering the impact on the childs health and its not clear which is worse. The politicians have to look at the entire public impact.
But you can make it simple by limiting a Public Health concern to what the science committee clearly takes into account, the individual. Its actually a real problem that you want to make easy. Many of the individual rights v. the good of the whole idea are very difficult in democracies. But you would not understand this being a Putin-Assad fanboi.
