Avery Johnson is a more energetic version of Poppovich. He also knows alot of Dallas offense through Don Nelson. The combination is deadly.
Ties or is 1 game from tying the mark for best start by a new coach at 25-4.
Who were the morons who doubted him?

good lucj mavs,,hope to see you in the second round of the playoffs
Bahhh....I hope he loses the next 10 games
the real season is the 2nd season, this is just preseason for the playoffs. I'll wait to give AJ any credit until he gets to the conference finals.
What are you talking about? AJ has already coached a team to a championship.
See 1999.
But the Mavs aren't a threat to the Spurs, because some ignorant homers here say so
The Mavs are the only threat to the Spurs in the West.
Jason thompson
He said on the ticket Aj is not a coach and never will be,
In respect, AJ is reminding me of Phil Jackson, getting credit for having a good team. AJ needs some years under his belt, then I will credit him.
But gj so far anyways.
the honeymoon is still on with aj and the mavs
lets see what happens with a few losses in a row
I like AJ. I like him alot.
but 12 games into his 1st full season I'm not ready to call him Mr. Miyagi just yet.
And yet you have no problem with Horry on your team?
was he not a Laker? and what will your dumb ass say if AJ came back to be a Spur asst. coach? show me a post you ever made prior to 1999 and maybe I might take you serious.
Getting their ass stomped by the Griz.
Wow... 20 point A-whoppin' to the Griz.
The Mavs might have a bigger problem on their hands other than the loss to Memphis. Josh Howard (stud) was carried off the court with about 2:20 left with an ankle sprain. Have to wait and see if its as bad as it looked.
They were already looking into adding another 2/3 type (Lynch and Ham have been mentioned) since Christie was waived. Not to mention Stackhouse on the shelf still with his knee.
<<<<< Not an AJ fan. AT ALL.
But anyone with a half a brain, AJ hater or not, could see he was going to make a great coach, from way back. I seriously dislike him but even I wouldn't have minded if he was the guy to replace Pop...if Duncan would go for it...which I still doubt. Being a great coach doesn't really make him a hero or a great Spur IMO...but yeah that record is no fluke and it's not just because of a honeymoon...AJ always appeared to be, and is already proving to be, a great coaching talent, and he's only going to get better.
