Charles made a point on Tnt that your second best player has to take 2nd most shots in the game (it might have been 14+ shots). Our second best player changes between manu and tony.

Sir Charles has a point but I think that if the shots that fin and vanx are taking are within the flow of the offense it shoudn't matter. Taking shots is also a sign of aggressiveness. Perhaps manu/tony weren't as aggressive.

I think NVE shoots too much, he just signed this summer and thinks that he can just come right in and do whatever he wants cus he's a vet. Manu busted his ass for his spot and barely gets touches...

Van Exel hit 6-for-10 from the field, including 3 three-pointers in twenty minutes and you guys think it's a bad thing??

After living through Brent Barry being tentative, I'd think Spurs fans would be happy to see a bench player who isn't afraid to shoot when he's hot. He's averaging less than six shot attempts per game.

Van Exel and Finley both were solid last night. The problem was the decision to try to out small-ball them.

You have to understand what the Bulls were doing defensively and what they were giving the Spurs.

The Bulls were immediately collapsing hard on the lane once TP or Manu made a move toward the lane. If Manu or TP got through somehow, the Bulls were pretty long inside the dotted semicircle and they were getting to any shot attempt (Chandler, Songaila and Deng in particular). That forced the Spurs to start shooting from the outside and that's where NVE and Finley came in. The Spurs were pretty cold from the perimeter...even in warmups...but that's the open shots they had - >15 ft. shots.

The Bulls played great on both ends and they crashed the boards hard, too.

For future information, Bakcourt is actually spelled backcourt in English.

Rebounding killed us last night...I think the Bulls had like 13 offensive rebounds to the Spurs 5 or something. Plus, they shot something like 53% from the 3 pt range. Very good game by the Bulls, average game by the Spurs= Bulls win.

I feel bad for the Lakers, I have a feeling Pop will be pissed and the Spurs should come out with fire after their first homecourt loss.

    OH my god!

All u people (OK, not all U people) find ANYTHING to complain on after a loss. Nick was hot..... so he took shots.

    Get over it.

It was about defense in that loss, not the offense.

I don't usually do this but it got me thinking:

Shots between the players mentioned above...and yet people still complain. It was a loss. ONE loss. Get over it. Move on. On occasion other guys may get more shots than TP and Manu...so what? I bet the Spurs will still win most of those games.

    Game 1: TP + Manu= 29
    MF +NX 15

    Game 2: TP + Manu= 24
    MF + NX= 11

    Game 3: TP+ Manu= 28
    MF + NX= 12

    Game 4: TP + Manu= 30
    MF + NX= 18

    Game 5: Finley didn't play

    Game 6: Finley didn't play

    Game 7: Finley didn't play

    Game 8: Finley didn't play

    Game 9: Finley didn't play

    Game 10: TP + Manu= 32
    MF + NX= 12

    Game 11: TP + Manu= 25
    MF + NX= 9

    Game 12: TP = Manu= 21
    MF + NX= 11

    Game 13: TP + Manu= 20
    MF + NX= 21
    ** So what???
    It was one game. Now if it's a continuing problem...then complain. Instead, have a Coke, a smile and ---- --- ---- --.

NVE was the only reason the Spurs were in the game in the first half. There were so many, many open shots the Spurs missed.

Yeah z im pretty happy with the scoring there. Not to mention how much poor shooting we have as it is, imagine how much better it could be.

I see later in the year Finley being saved for the 2nd half or maybe the 4th alone.

Ill take 12 points 5 boards out of my third string guard any day of the week chucky.

    Oh really.

Cause Id love to have seen Horry, Mohammed, or Nesterovic, guard Duhon or the like, that would've been entertaining.

You gotta love Finley thinking he is the man instead of having Ginobili and Parker getting the shots. Also Finley's defense is crap. Dallas is much better defensively with Daniels.

Exactly. Hard to find a good reason for allowing 61 points in the second half.

See, this is a debate about the hair soon to start.

There was no defense during the fro era just about!

    Oh crap panic!

Since the Spurs usually start out playing .500 basketball, I'm elated that they've only given away three games. They've played pretty wretchedly at times, and they still manage to beat almost everybody. It usually takes a really bad loss to motivate them to get going, and it may not happen for a while. Fortunately we have the rodeo road trip to look forward to as a rallying point.
