The felony murder doctrine states that if a person commits a violent felony and another person dies as a result, the person committing the felony can be charged with murder, even if they did not mean for anyone to die or did not directly commit the act.
Change the laws or live with the decisions of the jury who has to abide by those laws in making their decisions.
