The only retired consensus top 10 all-time player (O'Neal should be, but is often on the fringe) to not have an award named after them is predictably Duncan.
Instead of taking this opportunity to name DPOY after him both because it's deserved and a disgrace that he didn't win multiple, he got ignored with that, to a lesser extent ROY and Ginobili with 6th man.

Not to disagree but naming the defensive POY after a top-ten all-time all-around (i.e., great offensive) player like Duncan might be a bit diminishing.
People who don't know any better years from now might imagine him the way we think of Ben Wallace.

David Stern absolutely HATED the Spurs. I thought Adam Silver would be better, but he's just as mercenary, just as soulless, just as revolted by the actual game of basketball.
