Do you try to immediately cash in these extra draft picks and get a run at a disgruntled Trade target, or try and tank again, and pair one of the above names with someone of equal caliber talent and see if the whole is greater than the sum of its parts?
No. You build through the draft. Teams that take shortcuts fail. I also don’t see us throwing games again next year. We could have won 10 more games, and been 5th instead of 3rd, so they’ll swing away with all of the young talent, and let the chips fall where they may. There is also no generational talent coming out. You can see them a year out, and there isn’t one for 2024.
If we dont get Wemba and land up with Scoot/ Miller/ Thompson twins...there is no point to do the 2022/23 strategy of tanking for getting a top pick in the mediocre 2024 draft. Just let the chips fall where they might by letting Sochan, Johnson, Vassell & co along with Scoot/Amen/Miller do their thing. They will still most likely finish in the lottery.

There is no one worth tanking for next year. If we don't get someone "franchise-worthy" in this draft, then we'll be naturally getting a good pick anyway (even with trying to win). At this point, we need to try to win every game because we don't want to grow a system of non-compe iveness in our players. We also don't want to enter a season under the salary floor anymore.
Now, we shouldn't be bringing in old veterans to take time away from our young players... but let the young players try to win and let the chips fall where they may.
Regardless, I think we'll be a lottery team next year. There is a lot of talent in this draft, but it takes a couple of years to learn how to win.
Without Wemby? 100%. What I was pointing out in my post is that the pre-lottery gap between 3 and 5 (11 games) was bigger than the gap between 5 and 14 (9 games. There's a lot of room to grow and win more games without dropping into the deep lottery.

why would you tank again if the result of tanking isn't the top prize? so that you can get another 14% chance in a draft with no clear cut #1? spurs have plenty of picks, cap space and assets and they'll still be in the lottery. so, just build and develop and manage your team accordingly.
It wouldn't be another total tank like for this years generational Wama.
Rather a partial tank like should we try to get into the Play In or just move down some spots for a lotto pick.

When you have the most games played as a coach, it’s just logical to have a high number of losses. He’s first of all the most winning coach.

We’ll probably still be a lotto team if we dont get a top 2 pick. Wemby and Scoot could potentially help get us into the round 1 playoffs if Pop dont send them to Austin. Even if they do start, i cant see them playing 34 minutes a game all season. We’ll still have a top 13 pick next year too unless Sochan and Vassell continue their development. I think KJ has peaked
They'll probably be much closer to the team that started and ended the season and will play defense and not sit players out. Another 10 wins or so and that puts them in the 5-8 lottery range. Tanking doesn't make much sense, except in a year where Wembanyama is available. Winning around 30-35 games makes the young players more compe ive in a learning environment and you still get a good enough pick.

We're not the Lakers and we don't have their payroll ability. Even so, they've failed more than they've succeeded, missing the playoffs multiple times with Bron and AD. With our lease up in less than 10 years, we can't afford to shoot for one le, surrounded by a decade of suckage.
