Suns F-C Grant undergoes knee surgery, out three months
    December 2, 2005

PHOENIX (Ticker) - Phoenix Suns forward-center Brian Grant will be sidelined for three months after undergoing right knee surgery Friday.

Grant underwent surgery for debridement of the patella tendon and removal of bone spurs on his knee cap. Suns team physician Tom Carter performed the procedure.

Signed to a two-year, $3.4 million in the offseason to add size to the Suns' frontcourt, the 6-9 Grant is averaging just 3.3 points and 1.7 rebounds in nine games this season.

A 12-year veteran, the 33-year-old Grant has career averages of 10.6 points and 7.5 rebounds in 744 career games. He was selected eighth overall by Sacramento in 1994.

It was bound to happen. the 5/8 minutes he played won't be difficult to fill.

How's Sharrod Ford's ability? I know most here and with the Spurs liked him.

I'm not surprised at all. He should've retired 3 years ago.

For the vet minimum he wasn't a bad signing. He was decent when he played.

The timing is good because he should be recovered in time for the playoffs when another body off the bench may be needed.

    Grant averaged 10 mpg, right?

They actually should drop Jared Reiner and pick up another big man just to be safe. There's better bigs in the minor leagues than Reiner.

Also the Suns may be looking to pickup someone with what is left of the trade exception after Dec. 15th.

The suns are lucky to pick up Diaw. He and Kurt Thomas are all they have now until Amare comes back. Marion can play some PF I guess.

Since Diaw has been playing some PF/C, Grant has played about 6+ minutes a game, 9+ for the year.

    Nice signing colangelo.
How's Oberto doing for ya? Last three games he's averaged about 30 seconds per

Grant cost just over a mill... How much you paying Oberto not to play? That's right, twice that...

    Huh? What's that MaNuMaNiA?
... oh and JMarkJohns, don't worry about T Park, he is sort of the resident fool around these parts. The jester sort of speak. Noone pays him any real heed, after all, he's been known to talk out of his ass, and then repent about it.
    Oh, I got ya!
