I can’t figure this one out TBH
every thought that pops into peoples heads doesnt have to become a thread
Ok thanks. Plz delete then
He’s better than the alternatives. The team has to have five players on the floor.
because when the spurs had the chance to get Sengun like all the experts said to. Some dumbass chose the flasher...
Bassey is the only plus rebounder on the entire roster for one
WTF, spurs could have had Baby Jokic but instead got zilch, zero, nada!? Ugh. Baby Jokic would have been the perfect center to put next to Wemby and would have moved Zollins to his rightful place as backup!
It's him or Mamu at the backup C.
Right. The answer to the thread le is "because he's better than Mamu", with some "because Wemby doesn't play much C" sprinkled in.
both mamu/barlow have only registered minutes in garbage time against LAC
I don’t know if I should answer this. Because Bassey is the backup C? Because Bassey is better than either Mamu or Bediako (Mamu could be better offensively but lacking on post defense vs Bassey), because Collins cannot play 48 minutes?

I'll grant that Bassey is a better rebounder than Mamu, but Mamu can shoot the 3 and is a better passer than most of the other players on the team. My guess is that some adjustments are coming with Bassey, Mamu and Champ being involved a bit more.
Why wouldn't he get minutes? I don't understand the question.
My bad. Saw the stats from the previous game after I’m posted it. You’re totally right, it makes no sense. I guess it can become the thread of the monitoring of his minutes over the season. By eye test based on the Phoenix game I like Mamu better
Because we don't have Jalen Duren for some reason.
Anyway, Bassey has been good for us. Heck of a passer and rebounder.
Because he's a hometown star from St. Anthony Catholic High School
The better question is why doesn't he play over Zollins.
Zollins is collapsing into an underwater contract.
30.8 mpg, 11.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists with 3.5 turnovers while shooting 11% from three.
I'm tired of everyone including announcers talking him up like he's the perfect fit for Wemby who defends the rim, shoots 3s, and enforces for Wemby.
Instead everyone is blasting to the rim, seems like he gets got more than he gets, misses 9 out of 10 threes, turns the ball over like crazy to negate his assists, and doesn't seem to enforce a damn thing. Yes, he gets in altercations, but that's because nobody respects him and get up in his guts. Steven Adams when healthy doesn't get into hardly any altercations yet everyone knows how tough he is and he enforces for JJJ just fine, and that's without bricking three point shots nonstop.
Bassey isn't playing well but he isn't a bad contract right now.
Because of our 4 primary bigs 3 play in the starting lineup
I like Bassey, but he just doesn't fit next to Wemby. I'd much rather have Wemby playing the center minutes when Collins isn't on the floor. That's Wemby's most efficient position by a landslide.
Interesting. I wasn't aware anyone wanted him to play C. Other than being tall and blocking shots, what does he do well that a center does?
While timvp's grades aren't perfect, so far this season Bassey has scored:
A-
B+
A-
C
What seems to be the problem?
Putbacks, lobs, offensive rebounds, finishing, taking advantage of dumpoff passes, altering shots. You know, just taking advantage of his insane length.
Did you watch him while he was in France? He played center there.
I'm more of a Barlow fan. I just think he has a more intriguing skill set that's more useful in a playoff series than a rim running center.
