Why do you care? I'm pretty sure that Tim Duncan doesn't care.

TD MVP???? No Way. As of right now, he's not even the MVP of the Spurs, let alone the league.

He could win the MVP, but it will require him putting this team back on his shoulders, and TP not overshadowing him.

Uh... I disagree. I think Duncan has a really good chance to get it this year... primarily because, the clippers wont go far enough for brand to get mvp and its just too sudden, kg just won't get it, dwade has too many other first and second options on his team, etc etc

I think duncan wins because everyone is watching the spurs to win it all and that puts alot of pressure on duncan - but hes playing better than he has in a long time.

Is it too soon to award dumbest post of the year award yet?

Can you really say that TD has been your MVP this year, and not Parker? He has been the player who has kept the Spurs in numerous games this year. He has been the playmaker. Clutch free throws. Timely baskets. Ridiculiously high FG%. I'm not even a Parker supporter, but I without a doubt, have to say that through this first month, he has been much, much more of a MVP player than Duncan.

Parker is feeding off of the Duncan double teams. Tim is constantly being double teamed, even without the ball. Guess what? That leaves the lane wide open.

Parker has been playing much better relative to his previous baseline than Tim, no question.

However, suspect teams still prefer to choose to let TP beat them than TD. That strategy may have to change, but right now Tony is reaping the benefits of defenses designed primarily to contain Tim.

So yes, Tony is dominating the offense now, but only becase he isn't priority #1.

Camby's my pick right now. I know the Nuggets aren't at the top of the heap in terms of team record right now, but Camby has done an amazing job with the post responsibilities while Nene and Martin have been out.

"Camby has done an amazing job"

agreed. If he can keep his body together for 70 more games, he deserves a nod. Shotblocking, leading rebounder, defender, sometime outside scorer.

Duncan won't get MVP. He's totally relying on Parker to do everything now.TD just barely wants to shoot the ball anymore.

When teammates improve within a team-chemistry environment, individual awards are harder to come by. Ask the Detroit Pistons about who the MVP of that team is. With the emergence of Manu last year, and what looks like Tony Parker this year, there will be other players on teams that need that player to carry them that will get more attention. It in no way diminishes the value Tim Duncan has to his team. But, I think it would be a tougher argument over the likes of LeBron James, Allen Iverson, Dwyane Wade, Dirk Nowitzki, and even Marcus Camby.

You Pistons fans have a point, but take away Duncan and there is no chance of a chamionship. So with that said, Duncan is very valuable. Our most valuable player. MVP.

If the Spurs get their best record in franchise history, TD will get it.

Yep, I think it's going to either go to Lebron or AI (if he manages to turn the Sixers around).

Hmm..let's analyze...MVP..Who Cares. VY will not be the Heisman Winner, but the Horns will win the NC. TD and any other Spur..not MVP, but they are the Champions. MVP? Wassup wd dat and, quite frankly (Stephen A. Smith) who cares? Bring me Larry O'Brien Trophies and a TEAM who want to win. Screw MVP...

You should stick to somthing you know anything about. Then again, that would most likely be a short thread.

TD is the Spurs MVP and again the best player in the game. It is clear you need to learn more about hoops than what you are getting on Sports Center. Check out Tim's rings, his Finals MVP's and the way he has led ever changing pieces to more playoff success and the best record in the NBA for the entire time since he entered the league.

Another stick in the mud! If you don't want to talk about something, STFU!

By your stupid theory, we can't project and discuss the potential finals rematch. If we all thought like you, we would not have a DISCUSSION BOARD at all.

Go to the article and see that Dupree uses a logical formula that shows TD still number 1.

This statistical analysis is pretty right on in my view. Little bit from the article:

"Duncan's scoring (21.7) and rebounding (11.9) averages are below his career numbers of 22.5 and 12.2, respectively, but he is playing almost four fewer minutes a game than his career average of 38.2.

He is the only player, however, to be in the top five in all of the categories in the index — and his team wins. The Spurs' 10-3 record was second best in the league going into Monday's games."

if you take a second and read what you are about to post, you may find yourself seeming more intelligent. i think you could waste less time thinking about more pertinent things, like how are the spurs going to get their second line defense up to par, how long ginobili's ankle will take to heal, etc., instead of musing about an award given in june. if you thought at all, you would realize we have hardly played any of the season at all, and at this point projecting the entire season after not even a quarter of it is played is pointless. the nba has the longest season of any major professional sport and anything can happen between now and may/june.

    You raise a point above:

Does the NBA really have the longest season? It is very close as baseball goes from April to Oct (7 months + 162 games and playoffs). NBA = 7-8 months and 82 reg games plus playoffs. NBA probably more grueling.

    I guess you are right!

Tee NHL plays an 82-game regular season as well and their regular season lasts a month longer, from the start of October to the middle of April, when the NBA regular season ends as well.

But you are right, anything can happen in the next 5 months.
