A nice reminder that Vic won't be the first HOFer who wore #1 for the Spurs
Man these were the most beautiful jerseys I ever seen. Looked even nicer on tv. I'm truly sad if the spurs ditched this look! Any idea if they are bringing it back or if its completely gone? Also any update to court design and/or uniforms? Please share as I am new to this area.

A nice reminder that Vic won't be the first HOFer who wore #1 for the Spurs
And Tim Duncan wasn't the first HOFer to wear #21 for the Spurs either.
Those were ugly as .
I really liked that jersey. I hope they bring it back. It is better than the current statement edition.
I also liked the black one

Iconic throwback. When this uni and its color variants were released, they were the first in the history of the NBA to have no team name or city name on the jersey.
These were sick. Glad I got a Duncan version of it.
I'm trying to remember who wore it before him... Alvin Robertson??
Both at similar stages of their careers too! Maybe whoever next wears whatever jersey number CP3 ends up with will be our next HOFer!
I feel like they’re hit or miss. You love them or you hate them, no in between. I do know I love them. It’s keeping in line with the Spurs’ theme of simple (boring to non-Spurs fans), but with a twist, but STILL simple. The but the very first city edition jersey though (black and fiesta), now those were awesome.
Loved those alt unis especially the black variant but the gray ones were sick too. Some ppl will say they looked bad but I liked those
Reminds me of the opening season game against OKC where Parker hit the game winner which I think was the first game with those unis possibly? And maybe the first game with the new logo at mid court? felt fresh and new in SA lol
And the black ones remind me of the time the Spurs skull ed the Warriors on opening night in Durant's first game there.
yes man good call. That Spurs roster was so elite, too bad about Kawhi. But I remember that night and feeling like we could hang with the big dogs still.
Man watching that clip, I forgot how sneaky good Simmons was. Obvs not a complete player but doing special stuff in his role. His buzzer beater 3 at halftime in your clip was pretty nice lol, and dude moves with electric energy every time he go the ball.
I thought that team was going to do something special up until Kawhi's injury ended it. Didn't they let Simmons go after the end of that season? I thought I read at the time, that was a guy on the team that Kawhi liked, so another reason added to the list for him to want to leave the Spurs.
They were making up excuses right and left as to why Kawhi left. Retconning at its finest..
The real reason Simmons left is that Orlando offered him more than SA wanted to pay him. Turns out, we were right. Orlando signed him to a 3 year deal, traded him to Philly half way through, and Philly either salary dumped the last year, or ate it. He had some talent, but a low BBIQ. If you forced him to make decisions, they were frequently bad ones. He needed to operate in a system.
I really didn't mind them either. The Spurs were le contenders at the time and those jerseys were part of their iden y. Have to admit I got a grey Manu one. Anything is better than those awful camo ones they had to wear at that time.
I loved J Simms with us. Nice little success story. But yes it was clear he was a system player and the Spurs made him. He wasn't like White or Murray where he was gonna find success somewhere else. I know he would have struggled in the post Kawhi/pre Wemby Spurs. Basically would have been another Lonnie Walker.
Yeah, most people were saying Stephen Jackson 2003 2.0 with the way we lost him but he definitely flamed out early. Jackson was always an unpredictable player and turnover machine wherever he went but he was a dawg and a of a defender. Simmons was nowhere near Jackson, but ended up having to play in Saudi Arabia soon thereafter.
I also remember Jack in '03 being "that guy" who was a talented, NBA body, but with wild unpredictable tendencies and a low BBIQ especially on offense. If he wasn't cutting for layups or shooting open 3s, he was often a liability when trying to play the role of creator. Also led the Spurs in technical fouls (not counting Pop) by a lot that year.
Yeah, I loved this jersey.
There was also a year we had kind of shimmery silver jerseys and I miss those too, I think.
People hated those, but I have a Drob, 2 Duncans, and a Eric Williams that had to be game worn, because he was only here for 2 months, and I can’t imagine the NBA doing a run based on that. He came over from TOR as a part of the Bonner trade. They ran those jerseys as a special for a few years. One year, they were the Silver Sunday Jerseys.
I thought they really dropped the ball on these silver ones:
When the original ABA home grays were incredible

Only alt that was kinda bunk was that Chaparrals uni a while back
I still don't really like the 68 Hemisfair unis either lol but they grew on me.
the gray ones look sweetttt
T-Mac made them look cool IMO
