This is the real test.
Rockets will undoubtedly want to get one back and Spurs have to be ready.
If we manage to win this one, we actually might be onto something in early part of the season.

Houston, and Dildo Brooks in particular. Let's 'em up.
When Wemby and Landale are both on the floor, have Sochan or Barnes check Landale so the Wemby can roam. Vic had to stay out so high to honor Landale’s shot that it allowed green to turn the corner and get downhill. That’s how Houston made their run.
My biggest concerns right now are slow starts and how to handle the second halves of games when things dry up.
Wemby started hot. When he doesn't, it mucks everything up thereafter.
As for our opponent, Houston has two modes -- post heavy with Sengun, light it up with FVV or Green. Other players feed off those two things. Last game, the SAS were excellent at stifling Sengun. Green then came alive in that way the Spurs traditionally find it hard to stop.
My third concern is that Pop won't be remotely bothered if they drop this game as a learning thing or whatever. I hope not.
Same things I want to see as we move on throughout the season: focus on defense, really hit the boards with ferocity, then decision making with the ball and less stupid TO.
Spurs dont have enough offensive firepower to overcome 15+ TO every game. But if they are engaged on defense, finishing the possessions and making smart reads in transition? They can win a lot of games just by doing those things and that is the system (push, go in transition and make reads no matter who has the ball).
I agree that if we win tonight it‘s a good sign for the season. They need to clean up the mistakes they made in the 4th and come out with the same intensity. I expect this to be a close game. Hope Pop makes some adjustments, we all know he‘s not the best at it.
Where is that gif that Wemby bump fist after it was announced Houston got the 4th pick in his draft lol
I was going to ask you guys about Brooks after the game in the previous game thread. Not sure what the reactions are here were, but he really got testy there for a minute in the previous game. He also hit some tough shots for them in the 4th quarter.
Big test tonight. If the Spurs can win, could be huge in helping the team build a foundation for the rest of the reason. Either way, I just want them to play smart and with intensity.
He’s a decent player, but his ego really writes a lot of checks he can’t cash. He’s kind of like PatBev in that the single mindedness, at ude, and stubbornness that got him into the league really works against him once he got there. How are you going to trash talk LeBron in the playoffs, and not understand that he’s going to ing destroy you for it?
Gotta give a shoutout to CP3 for landing a punch on Brooks![]()
And not getting caught! They reviewed the whole thing on replay.![]()
i wonder if there's a W/L split for games where wemby makes a 3 pointer in the first 3 minutes of the game and when he doesnt
Please post all melt ups and melt downs in here. Let’s fking go!
Brooks has that Draymond thing where he wants to injure people when he's not good enough.
wonder if Ime will bench Sengun again tonight or try to match his minutes with Collins
lol dildo brooks yeah Houston
houston lets make my monday elite with a win
Is it just me or are these some earlier tipoffs for being CST? I’m bout it for sure.
Spurs +2.5
Vassell and Jones out for the Spurs. Adams GTD for the Rockets.
He's played in few enough games to where it's not the biggest issue to make one by hand. I don't see having the time at the moment, but making three buckets (make, miss, no attempt) would probably be valuable at this point in his career.
The point of using Landale rather than Sengun is for Houston to have five "live" guys, as Lebron said of the Spurs back in 2014. Wemby can't really sag off anyone in that type of situation except maybe Amen. But Thompson has been trying to generate spacing by hard attacking off the catch. I'm not sure it's best for Wemby to be the guy on the front line in that case. Seems like an easy way to get a couple of fouls out of nowhere. Honestly, the Spurs need to straighten out if they're switching or not beforehand and not try to communicate it on the fly. Like it's fine if they want to keep Wemby near the basket and thus switch every screen. But they aren't threatening enough to where you HAVE to do it. Even if in an ideal world you want guys who have the chemistry and IQ to see the situation and adjust on the fly, part of coaching a young team is to give them rules. So it should be a top-down decision rather than a bottom-up decision
