Trump often points to the large-scale deportations under Eisenhower as a model for his own initiatives. The awkwardly (but officially) named “Operation ” did, in fact, round up illegal aliens and deport them, but half or more of the illegal aliens who returned to Mexico during the operation did so on their own, wanting to avoid arrest.
