I understand playing Sochan as the backup C in certain matchups but when the other team isn't playing small it's dumb as to not play Bassey. Mitch needs to cut that out

I am starting to suspect if the previous correct rotation by Mitch is only simply a ing fluke due to lack of full healthy roster.

Not sure on his rationale for benching Bassey 100% and also playing Tre Jones and CP3 at the same time? He think that the rebounds will just find itself to the Spurs ?

We wouldve won the Knicks and Philly games if we werent getting killed on the boards on non-Wemby minutes.

I don't like it, but it seems that he wants to install these line ups for the players to get comfortable with them. He said in the postgame against the Nets that "we haven't used these type of line ups a lot", so it seems that he wants them to get game reps. Agree though, Bassey should be out there. The team looks much better with him playing.

If Bassey can’t even penetrate this lineup, people’s dreams of the Spurs drafting for or trading for a competent center (like Valancuinas) should die now. It seems the Spurs are content with running a team without a competent big man. Maybe the see the future bench to be so different than the starters to give it a different pace.

Why are yall ing? We roasted the Nets and the rebound count was about even. In the Knicks loss we were only out rebounded by 4, which is not some massive deficit.

The loses are more about what Wemby said post game, a lack of grit and focus. Bassey (or Collins) ain’t fixing that.

I don't think Mitch is going with Barnes or Sochan at C because he thinks these are great lineups. It's all about giving more playing time to the 4 bench players (Jones, Castle, Johnson and Champagnie).
Spurs are now fully healthy. Their roster isn't that talented but it's quite deep and not well balanced. Until injuries or a trade, I think Mitch will struggle to find a nice working rotation.

^ Does feel like the return of jones, and the desire to give him minutes, changed things. Meanwhile they’re not gonna bury Castle and Champaign continues to be productive off the bench.

Watch the games bro. Once Sochan moves to the center spot for wemby, it becomes a layup line for the other team. Maybe the Spurs continue to score at a reasonable clip with Sochan at center versus with bassey, that’s the question. But this isn’t about rebounding or grit.

And I think it is worth mentioning that Tre is playing pretty well in his minutes, it's not like he is a waste out there (which doesn't make it any easier for Mitch). I think it's fair to say Tre has earned these minutes (though it does result in wonky rotations)

This is the issue, said it many times.
Tre seems like a great guy and deserves minutes, but he's ineffective if he's sharing the ball with CP3 or Castle. I can get behind him playing some minutes with Castle, but Tre and CP3 should never be a thing.
PATFO needs to figure it out. Either extend him or trade him before the deadline.

I think this is one of the big concerns with Mitch (whether well founded or not is to be seen) - how much of Pop's propensity to play his pet cats is in Mitch? Giving Tre minutes because he's a nice guy who plays well in his minutes might be a good guy thing to do, but it's not necessarily what's best for the basketball team. Pop is "bigger than basketball" though... but we really only want a head coach who is concerned with what's doing best for basketball, not modelling a utopian idea of fairness and equality.

I think it is the opposite, the switch everything lineup is good on defense. But without a PG can't score.

Good way to compress your cap spending and just field specialist centers. Rim runner + Stretch big making little
    money.

This is the consequence of removing a lot of the dead weight (Branham, Wesley, Collins) from the rotation. I think Bassey deserves some minutes but not at the expense of Sochan or Barnes.

Without looking into the details, feels like giving minutes to Bassey to play Center makes sense as a backup, even if that means less minutes for Jones, cuz I just don't really see what he's doing for the team overall, even if he is playing decent in these awkward lineups individually.

It hurts when your small ball big (Sochan) is guarding a point guard so he will not be in position to rim protect or rebound. It’s not as if he stopped either Brunson or Maxey anyway
