Those are the only players that can be argued as better than him right now, and I think he's better than Luka when you consider his defense and what a turnstile Luka is defensively. He might be better than Tatum too considering Tatum plays some of his worst ball in big games.

5. What is Wembanyama's ultimate ceiling in the NBA?
Goodwill: He can do anything, be anything — he can measure up to where Hakeem and Duncan sit on these ridiculous but sometimes fun GOAT lists. He’ll own the defensive player of the year awards with reasonable health. One would assume a couple MVPs are in play. Who knows how long he’ll dominate, but he will dominate in this league full of parity. He’ll have his ultimate moments, but with the way the league is set up, it’s not designed to last very long.
Haberstroh: The GOAT. I’m not predicting he’ll pass Mike and LeBron and get there. I just don’t know how you look at his age, his length, his durability, his motor, his skill-set and not see his potential as being higher than anyone who has ever picked up a basketball. If he plays 86 percent of his teams’ games like he has up to this point, he has a good chance of sitting atop the mountain.
Jensen: The Kareem comparison is one I've liked for a while, even if their playing styles differ significantly. The overall imprint on a game is similar, only with Wembanyama being able to stretch the floor, and thus incorporate himself into the new age NBA. That's the individual perspective, however. The greats are always evaluated on winning, and we're seeing a player here who could win multiple championships, multiple MVPs and lock down Defensive Player of the Year for a decade. We can't shy away from it: His ultimate ceiling is GOAT territory.
Rohrbach: MVP. Champion. Multiple times at both. All-timer. GOAT? He has no ceiling.

Lockdown on DPOY with blocks more than half of the teams in the league, and on top of that averaging 25 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists. He’s top 5 and possibly top 3 MVP candidate if Spurs make playoffs.
top 4 is the highest he can get this season unless one from jokic giannis and sga get injured the he’ll be albe to sneak into top 3.
Oh so little faith you have. Wemby affects both sides of the court, and defensively, covers both the rim and perimeter. Who does that among those in the WHOLE NBA?? Wemby just needs to lower his TO, makes better shot selection (or not as his FG percentages have increased unbeknownst to many ST posters, and not even half of the season. Wemby is just going to get better

Who's to say what his ceiling is this year? He is improving so rapidly he's looking like Amazo out there.
He's Top 5 right now but I daresay he might even go higher.
It's not important to rank him vs the field. I just want to see his game evolve. So often he does something I've never seen or thought I'd see. Right now, for me, he's the most entertaining player in the game. I like Joker too but he's a known, he's going to destroy you.
Since the draft went to drafting nothing but teenagers in the lottery, what kind of 2nd year players have had this kind of impact? Bron? Luka? Wemby? Is that the entire list?
I’m not sure I’d take joker over wemby as well as Giannis . Wemby is a different beast on defense and he’s averaging 31 ppg over the last month
Rankings are always silly. Stats stuff, mostly top 10 pretty clearly now.
Most importantly, he has a HUGE impact, whilst it's VERY, VERY... clear that he has obvious areas of improvement.
He makes dumb over dribbling decisions and turns the ball over a lot (some overconfidence, some in an imperfect spacing environment, some developing understanding of timing and location of double team help), He needs to get stronger as he gets bumped off spots and loses rebounding position (he gets rebounds anyway, but that probably adds a couple of easy rebounds a game for him / the team and adds another 2 points in EPM type value), and gets bodied 1:1 by strong mofos like Jokic so he can't be walked down, that'll come with time and a gradual process to add strength without limiting balance and flexibility.
As a prospect, he was talked about as having GOAT potential...Two seasons in.

Luka isn't better, he's a liability on one side of the court and heliocentric on the other one
Tatum shines in a system but he's not the Kobe he thinks he is
Wemby is ahead of those 2 easy.
You can argue that only Jokic is really better because Wemby would make any other team better aside of maybe Denver
