on China? Only 10% tariffs on our greatest adversary? Did the Tech Bros complain?
Discuss.

Miss Old Joe already, tbh... that mofo used to beat the ever living out of China with his walker...
China going to be so irreverent in the near term anyway.
Irreverent?
President Trump imposed a 25% tariff on China, during his first term. Slow Joe kept it in place. This represents a 10% increase over the existing 25%. So, for those educated in our failing government school system, China now has a 35% tariff imposed on their goods.
What happened to the 60% he was raving about during the campaign?
No, it's not. The 10% applies to all Chinese imports, while the 25% tariff was limited to particular items:
On April 3, 2018, the U.S. Trade Representative's office published an initial list of 1,300+ Chinese goods to impose levies upon, including products like flat-screen televisions, weapons, satellites, medical devices, aircraft parts and batteries.
You must've been educated by the Department of Eduction, tbh...
BTW, those tariffs (and this applies to Corpse Joe as well) were very costly to the US: https://www.politico.com/news/2025/0...ilout-00002333
So, the tariff on the 1,300+ goods tariffed at 25% are now at 35%, correct? What goods are now enjoying only a 10% tariff?
Burn!
Don't read them. I may start, however:
Time to Admit It: Trump Is a Great President. He’s Still Trying To Be a Good One.
Shockingly, that wasn't written buy just some editorial flunky at Politico. No, apparently, it is the learned opinion of one John Harris, founding editor and global editor-in-chief of POLITICO.
Has Trump turned another lefty?
Your article starts off on a bad premise...
Republicans eye bigger farm bailout amid Trump trade wars
What trade wars?
So with you and Newsom and Bill Clinton archetypes you would be in favor of 100% free trade and 0% populism? Just let every white person in Ohio and Michigan and West Virginia and Pennsylvania outside of the Philly collar just starve to death and die? Free trade globalism makes the rich get richer and the middle class and poor get poorer.
...& had the SS stand down in Pennsylvania...to nary avail.
Any of the other non 1,300 goods. Math is hard. Given our trade deficit with them, probably the vast majority of them:
U.S. goods and services trade with China totaled an estimated $758.4 billion in 2022. Exports were $195.5 billion; imports were $562.9 billion. The U.S. goods and services trade deficit with China was $367.4 billion in 2022.

I mean, if you think opinion pieces are on equal footing as actual facts (probably part of your eduction)...
Yep, yep.
The ones you start by unilaterally imposing tariffs. Trump was quick to bend the knee with Mexico and Canada, weak on China tho.
Muhahahahahaha!!!
Actually, it's 1,300+ So, how many categories of goods do we import from China? Math is only hard if you don't provide all the variables.
What percentage of the $562.9 billion is represented by the 1,300+ goods that Trump tariffed at 25% in his first term.
Oh, I didn't read the piece. It's not even related to the discussion on tariffs (unless of course Harris mention the tariffs as something that makes Trump awesome).
No, it just came to my attention when I was reading the Politico article you linked. It surprised me to see their Editor in Chief give him props.

Sorry, that ship has sailed. The rich people that benefit from it are exactly the people that fund the political system. There might be different oligarchies (Musk vs Soros, etc), but essentially they understand economics. We can't have our standard of living, cheap manufacturing and cheap prices, it doesn't add up.
It really isn't what I want or don't want, economics dictate that you have to give something up if you want the other.
The sooner people realize that and adapt, the sooner they'll stop being disappointed and stop kicking in bents out of office.
I'm not sure this means what you think it means.
By the way, quickest ing trade wars in history.
I asked Google what was the quickest trade war in history and here's what Google AI spit out in about 2 milliseconds...
quickest trad war in history.
According to recent reports, the "quickest trade war in history" is widely considered to be the brief conflict between the United States and Mexico/Canada during the Trump administration, where tariffs were threatened but quickly resolved within a few days through negotiations, effectively ending the trade war almost as soon as it began.
because Mexico and Canada did what they were already doing.
You drama queens really crave the drama.
On June 15, Donald Trump released a list of $34 billion of Chinese goods to face a 25% tariff, starting on July 6. Another list with $16 billion of Chinese goods was released, with an implementation date of August 23
So less than 10%. Weak on China.
So you did read it, but opted to swerve. Your concession is duly noted.
Yoni, why did Trump, and by extension you, flip-flop on Tik Tok?
So Google agrees it was a trade war
And yeah, Trump bent the knee really quickly.
No, they weren't. Name one thing Canada or Mexico was already doing when Trump threatened the tariffs.
