How I FIRED a CTO After TWO Days!

We used a fancy recruiting firm to hire a CTO.
They charged us $140,000 to find the right person.


On the first day, this executive was late to 2/3 meetings.
On the second day, he was late for multiple meetings again.


When I called him to ask what was happening he said "I have trouble figuring out Zoom." Keep in mind... he was a "CTO" - yes a Chief TECHNOLOGY Officer. Yet he was late to multiple meetings and his reasoning was "I don't know how to use Zoom."


1. You're an executive. You shouldn't be late to any meetings.
2. You're a technical executive. You should know how to use Zoom.


We let him go on his first week.
Once you know with certainty that you've made the wrong hire... put your ego aside and have the courage to let them go. If you keep them knowing that you've spent $xx,000 and x amount of hours, it will only compound your loss.
