Mitch may say he’s not trying to be like Pop, but the organization is obviously trying to replicate Pop’s success in some form. What aspect of Pop’s success would they look to replicate? I say it’s the bond between player and coach. Wemby is sort of an Mitch’s adopted son after Pop orphaned him. The #2 pick will be coming straight out of Mitch’s womb and into his arms. How can the FO find the perfect son in this draft? You better believe they will be doing major character assessments on these kids and seeing who will be most receptive to Mitch’s personality. Relationship will be everything in setting up the future.

I think they’ll interview the top 4 candidates, assuming Flagg permits, but they’ll pick Harper, and yes that relationship is important. You don’t make your draft based on it, though.

I think it will extend to Top 6. They will interview Tre… and Kon. Cue the meltdown this board will have when that gets reported.

While there likely will be a meltdown, there shouldn't be. Due diligence is part of the FO's job, and the Spurs might be kicking the tires on higher picks to see if it's worth trying to move up from #14.

Yep, part of draft scouting is also getting a feel for opposition scouting AND having a book on each of these guys should the opportunity ever arise to acquire them down the road.

With picks at 2 and 14, I expect the Spurs to go super deep on who they take a look at and interview, and I expect they are fully maximizing their allowed 20 interviews at the combine.
