I only bring this up because I was reading a NBA draft clickbait article about the Pelicans packaging Herb and the #7 pick to move up to pick #3 from the Sixers. Now I don't want to drop to 7 but it did make me wonder how much is Herb worth in trade? The Spurs have tons of assets and Herb an elite defensive stopper would be a great pick. A future Spurs FRP or would it cost more? Would they realistically want a lottery pick for Jones because if not, I would love the Spurs to trade a lottery protected FRP for him. A nephew type wing defender to erase the other team's top scorers. I know he is good and inexpensive, but he doesn't score so how much would the Pelican's realistically expect to get for him?

I'd be stunned if Herb could get them to #3. I think they'd have to take PG back and send matching salary.

He shouldn't be that expensive since he was basically out for the season with a shoulder injury. I'd say it's actually quite risky to trade for him, because a shoulder injury can affect your shot and it's not like Herb Jones was a high volume shooter.

I am hearing he is on the market (ie the Pelicans are making him available) I am curious what their asking price is? The idea of adding KD and Herb to the roster this offseason is intriguing. KD would bring the offense and Herb the defense. Is Sochan considered a Herb Jones level defender, I mean even in the same stratosphere?

I feel there are several potential Herb Jones in this draft, Bryant, Coward, Clifford, Fleming…. it’s worth just keeping the pick tbh

I don't think anyone of those have Herb's defensive ability, but everyone of them has more offensive upside. I guess it just depends on what you're looking for.

Whenever Herb Jones comes up, I think if we had drafted him instead of his teammate, Flash Primo, it would have been considered a reach and we would have been screaming about it but now would be looking back and patting PATFO on the back for finding another gem.

I feel the same, Herb has elite defensive capabilities but hasn't shown much on the offensive side, he can either develop offensively like the Nephew did or just been an elite wing defender. I feel he is a known while the prospects are just that prospects. If we can acquire Herb at a reasonable price then I am all for it.
