I asked Google assistant to do a deep research dive into the Spurs future. It looked at 75 website and provided sound analysis. Its main conclusions are ones people here already know. Vassell must become a low usage 3 and D player and retain a decent 3 point shooting percentage. We are designed to win at the point of attack and get to the rim on offense and win at the point of attack and funnel offensive players into Wemby. If Castle and Harper develop into league average 3 point shooters, then we will be extremely difficult to defeat. If they don't we will be formidable but vulnerable. They analyze our contract situation. The 2027 team will be the team going forward.

    About Sochan:

"The challenge, however, remains on the offensive end. Sochan is not a floor spacer, and despite marginal improvements, opposing defenses will continue to ignore him on the perimeter, daring him to shoot and packing the paint against the team's drivers. His 2024-25 season averages of 11.4 points and 6.5 rebounds reflect a player whose primary contributions are not tied to scoring.
As Sochan becomes eligible for a contract extension, the front office faces a complex valuation problem. His ideal long-term role is that of a "connective piece" or a "Draymond Green-type"—a high-IQ defender, a secondary playmaker in transition, and an energetic rebounder who does the dirty work. However, in a closing lineup that could feature two other non-shooting guards in Castle and Harper, his presence could become a significant liability in the half-court. The Spurs must determine the precise financial value of a player who is defensively elite but offensively limited, a decision with major long-term ramifications for the team's salary structure. The defensive foundation provided by the Wembanyama-Sochan pairing is so powerful it may justify tolerating his offensive limitations, as it gives the team an incredibly high floor and a clear iden y."

    They also note about Vassell:

"In the half-court, the offense will face its greatest challenge. The primary sets will revolve around Wembanyama-Fox and Wembanyama-Harper pick-and-rolls, leveraging the immense gravity of their guards' drives to create lobs for Wembanyama or kick-outs to the perimeter. However, with potentially three subpar shooters on the floor at any given time (e.g., Castle, Sochan, and one of the lead guards), the paint will be congested"

    They write:

"The assembly of Fox, Harper, and Castle is a clear, philosophical choice by the front office to build a team that wins at the point of attack. This guard rotation can relentlessly pressure the rim on offense and suffocate opposing ball-handlers on defense, creating a potential "three-headed monster" that fuels a chaotic, transition-based attack. However, this construction represents a high-stakes gamble. The shared weakness of this trio is outside shooting. The success of this roster hinges on the bet that either the team's overwhelming pace and pressure can compensate for the lack of spacing, or that at least one of Castle or Harper can develop into a league-average shooter."

They say that the front office has done as well as possible dealing with the financial situation and it goes into great depth about this. If anyone is interested, I could add their analysis.

From 2027 going forward, we will have to draft well late in the first round round and in the second round and the CBA will make it difficult to add on.

People here are extremely knowledgeable and I don't think any of this is particularly controversial. I wanted to see what people thought.

It was a very interesting read. If people want to see more of it, I can bring more of it.
