Background: I grew up in San Antonio between St Mary's and McCullough in the 1970s. San Antonio was already more than half hispanic at that point.

Don't have much of an opinion on the OP, but I do roll my eyes at Americans who about US wealth and minimum wage, then move to somewhere like Playa Del Carmen, get a condo and enjoy their American retirement while paying pennies on the dollar for maid service, housing, transportation and food, basically taking advantage of the almost 3rd world economy. Does it help the locals? I'm sure, but it seems a bit hypocritical.
