Make a wish
I mean it’s a depth piece a lil underwhelming but he’s a vet
Got roster spots to fill, I guess.
Honestly a good signing for the 3rd string backup. When he has started in the NBA, he has produced good numbers. All they gotta do is flip Olynyk for Lauri and get a reserve forward and we Gucci.
Decent defender and good shooter. Had to be expected that they bring him back. Makes sense.
Folks wanted an emergency PG who could shoot... he fits the bill. Has to change his number for a rookie while staying on the same team, the ultimate sign that you're the last guy on the bench
I like JMac, and there are roster spots to fill. Not gonna hate this.
Don’t mind it. Spurs clearly need a 3rd string PG behind Fox and Harper (Castle doesn’t count).
Career 37% from 3 and 4:1 AT ratio. Good enough.
What are they planning with this
Y'all better put some respect on the goats name.
Tbh, he has an NBA dribble unlike the rest of the team outside of Fox and Castle. Smart defensive player ala Dwhite. Knows his assignments and where to be. Has great vision for a small guy and the ability to make the pass. Can get streaky like a party mills. Is known to score in spurts.
For a reserve backup, this guy is a real NBA player. I don't think Spurs fan got to see him really play. He's not the low IQ guys Spurs are used to having from the wing players. The exact opposite. He's tiny, but definitely makes up for it with his effort and Hussle. Honestly hope we get to see him play some.
He’s filling that Blake/Branham role as guard of last resort. He’s a solid player, no complaints from me. Spurs already kicked the tires and must have liked something there.
McLaughlin is a guy that will demand exactly zero minutes but will be ready if needed. He’s also a healthy vet that isn’t ancient and has decent stats when he plays. Plus he has at least some familiarity with the team and system already.
You could definitely do worse with a 14th or 15th man.
When is he trade eligible?![]()
Rather have kept Blake Wesley even if I think Jordan is better. I thought last year how McLaughlin was basically debatably a very loose composite of Braham and Wesley if you wanted to consolidate roster spots.
The problem with Lonnie is...he sucks.
Seems like a nice guy, but he ain't raising the ceiling on this team.
Can he play center?
Yeah it’s not exactly the sexiest move but makes total sense. Could do much, much worse for an end-of-bench guy who will likely only play in garbage time or if others are injured.
They sat Jordan and Chris Paul down and ask who wants to have a spot on the team.
Tweet is gone
One of the several guys i put on the list of reasonable guards to sign following yesterdays trade. Glad to have him back
Good move…
This is a known guy who is good enough for the role and won't complain, on a one year minimum deal. Not a sexy move but it's clear the FO thinks they have their core in place and are simply rounding up the roster with some solid, cheap, short term complementary pieces around them. I would like to see them target a high level wing and move on from Vassell / Keldon, but probably this is the kind of move we'll have to settle for in the meantime.
