Scientists Find DNA Change That Explains White Skin

Washington PostScientists said yesterday that they have discovered a tiny genetic mutation that largely explains the first appearance of white skin in humans tens of thousands of years ago, a finding that helps solve one of biology's most enduring mysteries and illuminates one of humanity's greatest sources of strife.
The work suggests that the skin-whitening mutation occurred by chance in a single individual after the first human exodus from Africa, when all people were brown-skinned. That person's offspring apparently thrived as humans moved northward into what is now Europe, helping to give rise to the lightest of the world's races.
Leaders of the study, at Penn State University, warned against interpreting the finding as a discovery of "the race gene." Race is a vaguely defined biological, social and political concept, they noted, and skin color is only part of what race is -- and is not.
In fact, several scientists said, the new work shows just how small a biological difference is reflected by skin color. The newly found mutation involves a change of just one letter of DNA code out of the 3.1 billion letters in the human genome -- the complete instructions for making a human being.

That same mutation seems to have happened in Asia, too.
There was a general correlation between skin color and climate before Europeans started migrating to the various continents 500 years ago.
White people are the result of a point mutation? That's pretty crazy.
I will venture to say the first white person was named John.
One thing that caused white skin to propagate widely in Europe was the fact that during the ice age, sunlight was marginalized, and the bodily manufacture of vitamin D was increased if more sunlight got through the skin.
Is he saying white people get more?Some scientists said they suspect that white skin's rapid rise to genetic dominance may also be the product of "sexual selection," a phenomenon of evolutionary biology in which almost any new and showy trait in a healthy individual can become highly prized by those seeking mates, perhaps because it provides evidence of genetic innovativeness.

that kind of ignorance knows NO Color. again, this is due to Man's battle with LUST. it's hard to overcome. but it's especially hard when you either have no father, or you have a father and he abuses your mama. like this happens all the time in this country...and it's not isolated to one race...it's all over the world actually. THAT is what's messing things up. But we all have ONE TRUE FATHER.
If only more would turn to HIM for guidance.
