Anyone remeber the deal for the official free credit report site?
No such thing as free. The info mining companies take some of your info and use it for marketing purposes.
Use Experian if you want a real and secure check.
Manny is right. Channel 4 WOAI did a story on it. i got mine that way, no gimmick.
I am not saying it's a gimmick. They take portions of your data and put it into the info mining databases. It's best to deal with the credit companies. The fee is worth it IMO.
Anything on earth that says Free is ed up and should be avoided.
The website I provided is affiliated with the government. Whether or not htey use the data, I dont know for sure, but I really doubt it.
Oh that's that new thing. I C never ing mind.
I know just about all of em are not "just free". U usually have to sign up for some trial offer of theirs or something, but this One is on the up and up.
They started doing this by region. Texas residents became eligible in June or July. It's free. Equifax is probably teh best to use. I dont think you can view your credit rating through this program but you can see youre credit history. I actually check mine every 3 months, it's well worth the 14 bucks if you chose to check it more than once a year.

Damn, did you already find out Santa is leaving you a lump of coal this year or what?![]()
Thanks folks, yes the link Manny provided is governed by the FTC, so I'll check it!
Hope it doesn't come up with the time I burned Smokey for a dime-bag.
Spread the wealth brotha, I'd like to get my vbookie repo knocked off that mutha.
Bishop speaks the truth, I paid for mine last month (already used up the yearly free one), and all three had different . For some reason between July and Nov. a couple of student loans that were already closed from Wells Fargo showed up open on Equifax (so I have to put them at the bottom of the pile).
Still trying to get those removed. My advice is if you can to open 2-3 cards and put all your monthly expenses on one card that you pay off every month and leave the others open to "age" and help out your credit score.
