I'm not up on trade deadlines and rules...but, I sure wouldn't mind seeing some changes in our team.

I think our bench is just too old, not much future in it...and definetly not a lot of energy.

Horry, Barry, Nick, Finley...while all good players in there heydays, I think their best is behind them. Methinks we've got too many of these types right now. I don't see a spark coming off the bench with 'em.

I really like Finley, and think he's a great backup for Manu...but, for the rest, I dunno.

I don't think NVE is a good match for our team, even tho he could be great on another. Barry and Horry are great for team chemistry, and locker room comraderie...but, how much are they helping on the court right now?

I would love to see us package NVE, Rasho...and mebbe another player, and get us something, anything...that can rebound and play with some energy inside.

I mean, what do we have on our bench that's gonna help us in the future? Or even provide that energy and spark off the bench now? Beno? pffttt! Oberto? Mebbe...given some time.

    But, that's it!

What happened to our youth movement?

I have pointed since some times that even if our roster is very talented but nor well balanced.
We lack a real PF who can guard the perimeter in our PF/C rotation.
We lack a young SG/SF who can bring energy on both side of the court.
For having these guys : I will trade Barry, Rasho or nazr, Oberto and Udrih.

I don't say that we can't win the championship this year with our roster : he is great and I'm really happy to cheer such a good team . As every roster in the nba, ours is not perfect and has some weaknesses.

Mo is a beast. Really wish that monster dunk would have gone down today. He woulda brought the Palace with it. And he's gotta be the best (at least top 5) offensive rebounding guards in the league. He is always getting those crazy tip-ins.

You Spurs should trade Horry, he's old and washed up. You'd be much better off with a young player.

Okay okay, don't mock me. I'm still bitter about his finals heroics.

Mo's got a lot of "good " in his game. I, for one, was on record as saying the Spurs should have gone after Mo Evans instead of Finley.

Don't get me wrong, Finley has been wonderful so far and looks like an appropriate backup for Ginobili and he certainly gives us the instant scoring punch we need. He's definitely a good fit. However, he's alos more of a one-trick pony, whereas Evans seems to have more of an all-around game.

Obviously, he's got things to work on. I'm looking down the road at who is eventually going to be Bowen's backup at the 3.

I like how you make a thread calling for changes and then have absolutely no idea who to trade for.

Well the thread creator was certianly miss guided... but I think his heart was in the right place.

While old Horry and NVE are clutch performers. Thats why their here, they show their value in the playoffs. Barry is a shooter, believe it or not, and he was heralded as the one of the best in the game before signing here. Not just that either he has elite passing, distribution and ball control skills. Finley is a scorer, who is far from a one trick pony even this late in his career. They all meet roles, and when it counts they tend to fulfill them...

I do however agree that we need more youth, its not about "whoa we lost a few games the sky is falling omg!!!1111 lets trade all our players" its about the fact that I and many others want this to be a true dynasty and its going to be pretty hard to do that with 5 players on the roster who are strivin to play till Kevin Willis' age.

I'll just address the craziest points:

    - If you're in favor of the Spurs trading Rasho, you're also in favor of the Spurs possibly going into next season with Oberto as the starting center and some scrub as his backup. Even if Rasho is traded, it's not a given that the Spurs would get into a huge bidding war to keep him and it's not certain that he would stay anyway. So in supporting a trade involving Rasho, you're announcing that you're fine with the possibility of Oberto starting at the center position next season.

    - The fact that you are O.K. with trading Horry is astounding. Horry sucked during the regular season last season, too, but he showed up big in the playoffs like he almost always does. He's one of the greatest postseason players in history, and he was huge as recently as last June. It would be insane to want to move him for what little money he makes. He's clutch, he doesn't complain when he doesn't get lots of playing time, and he shows up when it matters most.

    - What type of inside player do you intend to get for the corpse of Van Exel and Rasho's large contract? I'm listening.

    - I agree that the bench is a little old, but now isn't the time to fix it. If everyone is healthy, the Spurs still have tremendous depth. I'll take that over some younger players who won't be able to contribute now.

Maurice Evans has a more rounded game than Michael Finley???

    Hmmm...

We're about a third of the way through the season. I would think there are some things you can tell about a team in that time. From what I've seen, we have some weakness's that could be addressed...mostly, interior defense and rebounding.

Mebbe I'm stupid and misguided for thinking we might be able to do something about it with a trade. I dunno if there's a guy out there who we could get who could help...I guess that's why I was asking. And, since I am no fan of NVE, I considered him our best trade bait...along with Rasho.

Our point position would be weaker, but...pretty much the same as last years. In a half court set, Manu, Barry, Udri seemed to share it ok. Not the scoring threats that NVE is...but, I'm not sure I like having a scorer like NVE at our back-up point, as much as I would prefer someone who played our team half court sets better.

Still, I think rebounding, and interior defense has been shown to be our weakest area up to this point. Mebbe trading ain't the way to fix it...but, mebbe it is.

It's never too late for changes, I'm not talking about trades, but about injecting some fire into this team somehow,I dunno, A David Robinson speech on the team bus maybe. What does concern me is that they don't respond to losses or Pop tongue lashings like they have in the past. As Pop said in an interview, I am concerned, but not frantic.

It has been difficult for me to watch the games this year, because, while I don't find the games boring, it is frustrating for me to watch them when they just don't seem to be into the game. I count 3 games that they have been fired up for, the first two of the season, and the Golden State game. I think we are extremely lucky to have the record they have, which may also be part of the problem. I also wonder when "The Moment" will happen, you know, the point in the season that defines, or jumpstarts the season, but what if that moment doesn't happen?

What am I talking about....Spurs: Champs in '06!!!

Finley missed shots on Sunday he normally drains. Van Exel has played well this season, overall. Both players do need work on the defensive end, though.

I hope they keep this team intact. There is no need to make any trades unless someone offers something ridiculous.
