It's a shame I also padded Tigers votes.... Armstrong though will always be a worthy recipient in my book... I mean we are talking about the term ATHLETE here.... and what Lance has done is simply amazing....

Tim has remarkable skill but I wouldn't consider him a pure athlete, nor would I Danica. On the voting page, was their reference to the criteria that people should use when voting or was it a simple "vote for one of these people" situation.

That being said about Tim, I wonder whether extra muscle would help or hinder his game. He is sometimes described as a finesse player but he doesn't get enough credit sometimes for mixing it up down low. You can't exceed in the low post and be considered one of the greats without significant power in your game.

I think extra muscle would help defensive but would it hinder his offensive game?

Motor-powered sports, like driving in circles for hours, should not be considered "athletics" at all. Same for "judged show-business sports" like syncro swimming and ice dancing in the Olympics.

It's stupid to place a car driver as an "athlete" in the same group as muscle-powered athletes.

He'd have to get used to the added weight which can ultimately affect both his offense and defense, I don't know about other people, but I put on some pounds for B-Ball and I got slower, everybody was telling why do you do everything so slow.

I think at this point, Tim adding muscle wouldn't change his game at all, which is totally a finesse game, not a power game. Pau makes plenty of power moves and he's thinner than Tim. Two different styles.

And 20 - 25 pounds of muscle, he'd probably need to add that much to make any difference, is just that much more bulk on his well-worn knees and ankles.

You must be Boutons the Clown if you think Pau makes plenty of power moves, but little Timmy is only about finesse.

Along with finesse and great footwork, Tim is one of the most physical post players in today's game. If you limit "physical players" to those who's games are limited to power dunking, I am sure you won't agree. But if you were any of the big centers who have to play against Tim on either end of the floor, fighting him for position, you would know just how physical Tim is.

Spoken by a true dumbass, that doesnt know the rigours or strain the ATHLETES go through, to prepare for, and during a race.

Being a good driver and getting hot or getting in crashes isn't athleticism is just skill. Driving a car in tough conditions doesn't qualify one as being an athlete.

    Of course not.

That has nothing to do with sports and that's just being stereotypical.

    "Spoken by a true dumbass"

Turning a steering wheel of a car or handlebars of a motorcyle has nothing to do with athletics. It's physical, but it's not athletics, which is why car and motorcycle racing aren't in amateur or professional athletic compe ions.

Hunters also consider killing animals qualifies them as "sportsmen".

Racing powered machine is MOTORsports, you dumb , quitter, and liar.
