What's with all the Eva bashing? Some people are just so ing ignorant, it makes me sick. I agree with the one guy that it was ridiculous that the cop story made it above the fold, but it's not like she enjoyed it being there and it ended up being a complete non-story. And there are a lot of games she goes to where she doesn't get camera time at all. People need to lighten the up.

I am wondering why we, the public, have to keep being subjected to pictures of Eva Longoria while watching a Spurs game. I am sure I speak for the majority when I say that we watch the Spurs to watch the Spurs, not to see who is in the crowd.
Why does she seem to be so starved for attention, following the Spurs around like a shadow to training camp and everywhere else they go? You don't see the other wives and girlfriends trying to catch a ride on the team jet so they can be seen and feel like they are somebody.
Enough of the Eva coverage!
If she wants to be adored, then she should go to a Lakers game. We come to watch basketball.

Skewed sense of priorities
Upon receiving my newspaper Monday morning, I learned the most earth-shattering news, reported above the fold, as the top headline described an altercation between a professional basketball player and his celebrity girlfriend and a policeman on the streets of San Antonio ("A 'Desperate' situation downtown").
With war in Iraq, famine in Africa and the political shenanigans in Washington, it is nice to know the Express-News has its sense of priority when it comes to reporting the news.
I would equate the editorial decision to make that story the top headline to those of the tabloids. Is this what our city newspaper is coming to?

Can anyone please tell me why Eva Longoria was on the front page Monday?
I mean, was there really nothing else to report? Whether or not she actually said what she's accused of saying, did it warrant a front-page story? I don't think so.
Seems to me that she is exceeding her 15 minutes of fame.

Exactly! Some of the local media outlets have a more live-and-let-live approach (WOAI) and I applaud them for that. If the Express-News is so hard up to sell papers that they need to constantly strike out against her to make a buck, they should get better columnists and increase their circulation the right way. And KSAT is just a ing joke.

Recently at a Spurs game, some of the Baseline Bums were yelling at Eva when she was going from the tunnel to her seat, "Get the out of here, . Leave Tony alone."
I went crazy. I went to the president of the Baseline Bums and explained that they are the philanthropy/fan group affiliated with the Spurs/Spurs Foundation and that Eva needs to get the same respect from them as any other Spurs wife/girlfriend. Would any of them yell at another player's significant other like that!?!
I was appalled by the whole incident.
I was telling Rashofan the other night that the Baseline Bums didn't get their minute of fame for a couple of games recently. It didn't come til the very end of the game against the Hornets, when a lot of people had already left. I wonder if they're in the doghouse.
Probably not. They probably just forgot about them.
I invited (emailed) Eva to the board to get her side of the story. Hopefully she responds.
What baffles me is how two of the readers above seem to be blaming Eva for the fact that the media is covering her.
Who are these baseline bums and why do I not like them already?

If she weren't going out with Tony, she would still be getting media coverage at games and I don't think that anyone would give a . She doesn't always get media coverage at games either. I don't see ty commentary about Tommy Lee Jones when he sits courtside and gets face time.

Really, she's been nothing but completely supportive of the Spurs and the organization and if Parker and her have a genuine relationship based on more than just publicity, I don't see why we should be anything but respectful of that. And if they don't, it's none of our damn business.
And also, she's hot.

What difference is there? It's okay for Jones to get face time at games and not Eva?
I've already written my rebuttal to the editor... let's see if they give quality column inches to those of us that are tired of the Eva bashing.
With regards to Eva bashing, I think the blame needs to go to the individuals and not the medium in this case.
What would you (generally speaking) say if the EN failed to report the story or run what their readers are saying?
They gave their readers their respective voices. Now, I do agree with the second letter writer in asking why this deserved above-the-fold coverage, but this story obviously would have generated interest in the community (and you can base that on the forum's response as well).
I totally agree with Kori in that Eva should have the same respect given to her as any of the other players' wives/GFs.

Certain media outlets chose not to run the story. If the EN would've run the story under the police blotter, I would've been fine with that, but it didn't deserve to be above the fold. And if enough people are writing in that they are tired of Eva, I can understand the EN running the opinions in their editorial, but I hope that people, other than myself, are writing in their opinions opposing the bashing and are given the same space in that section.
Poor baby. Eva and Tony should have just taken the dumb ticket, paid
it and forgot it. Why did they kick up a ruckus? , Tony is not above
the law, he is suppose to have a Texas DL in possession, not his stupid
French license.
