So where did Rasho rank?
So where did Rasho rank?
Go figure.
I don't understand how there hasn't been more of a "uproar" against him from the public.
I'm not sure I believe Yao is the second most "powerful" athlete, behind Tiger.
Give me a break...Stephen A Smith made the top 100 (96)![]()
Thats only for american sports, i dont think stern will rank that high if it contains other sports around the world, sum guys from soccer will have a bigger influence then anyone associated with basketball.
6. Gary Bettman, commissioner, NHL
Since when did TSN become relevant? It's basically the Baseball News with a little football thrown in these days ...
billions of chinese would probably beg to differ.
40. Jose Canseco, author....hmm
no george steinbrenner???

ok, what does it mean to everyone when someone is said to have power??
Imposing your will or power of sugestion on others? Creating buzz about yourself? Being responsible for the jobs of thousands of people? Money? Inspiring discussion?
No Popovich?????
Also unbelievable.
Unless it's actually on a basketball court during a game, no way TD is more influential than LBJ.
The ranking of Bettman is a joke. His sport was gone for a year and nobody noticed.
At this point in time, I would say Yao's influence over those billion Chinese only represents "potential" power.
Factor in how many of them actually know Yao, how many of those care enough about basketball to be influenced by him, and then their actual economic power.
I think as of today, somebody like LeBron MAY have more net power. In another five years it may be different.
no michael jordan on the list?
Actually, I think Paul Tagliabue is the most powerful guy in sports. And is George Steinbrener on the list? I didn't see him.
was one of the first names I thought of too, but if he can't even crack back into the league that he helped make so powerfull, and is the best player in history in said league, how powerfull is he?
You would think the league would be falling over itself to get him a franchise, or a postion in the league office, not to mention all the other teams that you think would want him. I wonder if it is his bullish at ude. Or maybe he is happy to be retired and relax until the right oppurtunity.
This is a re ed ass list, who the cares about half those guys, not many people have heard about them.
BULL .
14. Phil Knight, chairman, Nike, Inc.

96. Stephen A. Smith, outspoken star, ESPN
