CARACAS, Venezuela - The American singer and activist Harry Belafonte called President Bush "the greatest terrorist in the world" on Sunday and said millions of Americans support the socialist revolution of Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez.

Belafonte led a delegation of Americans including the actor Danny Glover and the Princeton University scholar Cornel West that met the Venezuelan president for more than six hours late Saturday. Some in the group attended Chavez's television and radio broadcast Sunday.

"No matter what the greatest tyrant in the world, the greatest terrorist in the world, George W. Bush says, we're here to tell you: Not hundreds, not thousands, but millions of the American people ... support your revolution," Belafonte told Chavez during the broadcast.

    >snip

Belafonte accused U.S. news media of falsely painting Chavez as a "dictator," when in fact, he said, there is democracy and citizens are "optimistic about their future."

It's funny that only one President offered reduced heating oil to poor in cities like Chicago, New York and Philidelphia this winter...the President of Venezuela.

What an amazing altruistic gesture. God Bless Hugo Chavez and his socialist revolution.

    True.

But I'm a little perplexed by his statement. I've yet to see a liberal admit to Bush being good at at anything...much less great. Duh.

This guy is the left's Pat Robertson.... lol..

Calypso singer and liberal political activist Harry Belafonte was speaking for himself, not UNICEF, when he called President Bush a terrorist during a visit to leftist Venezuela, the U.N. children's advocacy group says.

Belafonte was quoted as telling Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Saturday, "No matter what the greatest tyrant in the world, the greatest terrorist in the world, George W. Bush says, we're here to tell you: Not hundreds, not thousands, but millions of the American people...support your revolution."

Belafonte made the comment on Chavez' radio and TV broadcast.

The U.S. Fund for UNICEF told reporters that Belafonte -- a UNICEF goodwill ambassador since 1987 -- made the comments "as a private citizen and was not speaking as a UNICEF ambassador, nor acting in an official capacity on behalf of the organization."

Belafonte led a group of Americans, including actor Danny Glover and Princeton University Professor Cornel West, to Venezuela over the weekend.

The Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, a conservative black leader, is among the Americans questioning Belafonte's sanity.

"Harry Belafonte's hatred of President Bush is causing him to embrace America's enemies," the Rev. Peterson said in a press release. "I also believe that his actions are treasonous as described by Article Three, Section Three o the U.S. Cons ution, which says that 'adhering to our enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort' cons utes treason."

Peterson called Chavez a "brutal, paranoid dictator with nuclear ambitions who wants nothing more than to destroy the U.S."

Peterson said it's time to take U.S. laws seriously - by classifying Belafonte and his delegation as "domestic enemies of the United States."

As Cybercast News Service has previously reported, Belafonte's senior years have been marked by controversy.

In August, during a civil rights march in Atlanta, Belafonte referred to prominent African-American officials in the Bush administration as "black tyrants," and he also compared the Bush administration to Adolf Hitler's Nazi Germany.

In 2002, Belafonte described then-Secretary of State Colin Powell as a "house slave."

"liberal admit to Bush being good at at anything"

Because that ultimate loser simply isn't good at anything. Has nothing to do with an anti-Bush person being liberal, conservative, etc.

It's just looking at the facts of the man's career and his personal characteristics. It's an indictment of the Repugs in TX and nationally that they elect such an unredeemable, incompetent loser. They wanted an ignorant puppet easy to manipulate, and that's what they got.

Who cares what Harry Belafonte or his sidekicks say ( Danny Glover?). They have to go to places like Venezuela to get an audience because they don't get it here -- they are idiots - they hate this country and they should move out -- It is funny that they have such disdain for a country that made all three of them so wealthy.

Well, let's define terrorism. If terrorism means unjustified aggression, illegal wars and torture, international torture, yes, then indeed George Bush is a terrorist... SCARBOROUGH: So, who is George Bush terrorizing? RECTENWALD: It was an illegal war, and, therefore, he's a terrorist. SCARBOROUGH: It's not an illegal war. RECTENWALD: Plus, he's torturing more people around the world than al Qaeda, by far. That's a fact... RECTENWALD: Let me ask you a question, Joe. Why was George Bush Sr. sitting with bin Laden's half-brother (link) on 9/11? Can you answer that?

Hugo Chavez: ensuring that there are plenty of poor people for his socialist revolution to take care of.

Dear Harry Belafonte: my continued condolences for the fall of your beloved Soviet Union.
