Parker should be an A in inside scoring, Manu should be B+
Alright many young people online who are involved in "Basketball Sim Leagues" know what FBB is. It's a text-based NBA simulator. Basically you are the GM and you can control a team and so on so forth.
My current rosters are so out-dated, it's pitaful. So I decided to do my own rosters which take patience and time. I am re-creating every player and doing their ratings by my honest opinion. So far I have only completed the Spurs roster.
Now, the point of this thread you ask? Well, I want opinions from Spurs fans on what they think of my ratings. I want you to reply with what you disagree, and agree with, or what you think I should change and why. Understand that opinions vary and don't reply with a biased at ude just because you favor one over another. Be real and don't be harsh because it's hard to do accurate ratings. Ratings are just like grades. A through F.
Please note that these ratings are based on position. Like Duncans ratings are versus other Centers and Power Forwards. Bowens ratings are versus Small Forwards and Shooting Guards. Parkers are versus Shooting Guards and Point Guards. Get it?

To answer your question on Nazr, NO. Please re-read.
If Rasho was a B+ inside he would get 18 a game. That's not happening.
Oberto I'm not sure of, we have seen limited action.
Marks isnt special in any area of his game. He is a C average all around.
Manu with B+ rebounding ratings would have him getting close to 10 rebs a game, again that's not happening. Same for Parker.
I dunno about Beno's D because he looks sloppy.

I agree with Parker. Except not A. But A- for sure making him the best inside scoring guard in the league. Manu B+ inside would mean he averages 20, instead he gets 15 on average and B inside and out represents that well.
I think B- and C+ for Nazr and Rasho as inside scorers is being very generous. Neither of them is above average in that category, and I wouldn't give either a grade better than C. I think I'd go C- for Nazr and D+ for Rasho.
You need to look at the talent at the post position in the league, and compare it to Rasho and Nazr. That's a little harsh doncha think.
Oh so you're basing it on PPG????
WTF does PPG have anything to do with the skill level of a certain player in that category???
Manu may not average 30 points, but he's damn goot at slashing/driving, same goes for Parker.
Why? Do you really consider Rasho and Nazr to be anywhere above average as inside scorers among all NBA players? There are many, many big forwards, small forwards, and even guards who are much, much more effective in the paint than either of those guys. Rasho misses as many layups as he makes and he often has his soft shots thrown back by good shot blockers; he's most effective when he's hitting that 8-12 jumper. Nazr is an "inside scorer" only to the extent that he's able to grab offensive boards and score with tip-ins and put-backs.
I don't see either of those guys being anything other than below average as "inside scorers."
I tried to say that it is very hard to do ratings because you have to consider skill and stats.
I agree that Manu is damn good, along with Parker. But in text based simulators you have to consider both skill and stats to come up with a final ratings.
Be easy on me.
Point taken. Thank you.
Rasho is again this season at a good FG %. He scores in the paint.
Rebounds are a fluke i have edited. Beno was statisticaly on best defensive guards list last season. I think it was on 82games.
Rasho and Nazr are not good, but hardly below average. Maybe just Nazr of defensive end.
PS: I have re-counted the grades. Only Nazr is graded once too many. If you have 5 categories, you cannot grade a player 6 times. Where does that A grade go then?
Rasho is not getting a B at all in inside scoring. That's just fact and I think most would agree with me there.
Beno could be changed but I would have to be swayed with a good explaination.
I think if anything Nazr is around a C, or C+ inside scoring. B- was me being nice I guess.
Duncan with B- handles for a PF,... seems right. I thought about it and Duncan rarely makes bad decisions with handling the ball in the paint. But a PF or C with anything more than C handles would have him getting 5 assists per game.
I still do not agree with C+ rebounding for Manu or Parker. I just don't see it at all.
I think the problem is that you can't very accurately reflect what these guys do by condensing it to a subjective grade in 5 categories.
Manu is a good rebounder at certain junctures. He's got an amazing knack for coming up with big rebounds at the end of games, particularly on the offensive end. That doesn't make him a great rebounder in a general sense, but it makes him tremendous in that situation. Statistically, though, I'd agree that neither Manu nor Tony is above average as a rebounder, and Parker is likely more in the D range in that category.
The problem is knowing whether you're rating players against other players at a position, or against all players at all positions. Tim has okay handle (though he turns it over a lot) for a big guy, but I'd say he's well below-average among all NBA players. Rasho is an okay inside scorer for a center, but he's well below-average among all NBA players. That makes a huge difference in how the players are rated and how they'll perform in the simulation.
Okay to figure ratings you have to score each player 1-100 in each of the following catagories:
inside scoring
jump shot
three point shot
handles
quickness
passing
stealing
shot blocking
post defense
perimeter defense
drive defense
o rebounding
d rebounding
strength
jumping
After completing the scoring 1-100 the game comes out with a grade for each of the 5 main catagories.
rating against position, not vrs all positions.
and of course it makes a huge difference in how players are rated and how they will perform in the sim. its a game. and thats what makes it hard to figure up.
Jumping = Dunking
Free Throws = Clutch
That's pretty difficult to read.
Parker leads the league in points in the paint...ahead of Duncan and is shooting at 53%...higher than Duncan. How can he get a B+ in inside scoring then?
It was changed to A- for sure.![]()
Tim gets some points for tonights game winner but his effort has not been there this season in compared to previous seasons. This will be an issue if it continues.
Tony has done well this season but has forgotten about his outside shooting. If a team is successful in collasping on him, he is in trouble.
Manu always seems to give 110% every game he plays. I only wish we had 12 guys that would give his type of effort day in and day out.
Trade Beno, Brent, Rasho, Nazr, and Fabricio and bring in some talent that will give effort on a consistent basis.
