You act as if the Spurs are an under .500 team. Truth is, they had a bad game. It happens in an 82 game year. They had plenty of crappy games last year. Yet that turned out ok.

What I saw today was a team that gave up! They had the lead in the 4th then turned the ball over like 4 times down the court. That, along with ing Van exel shooting the ball what seemed like every time down the court = disaster!

Turning the ball over doesn't always result from a lack of effort. Alot of times, it comes from trying too hard, or not having an established chemistry between the players on the floor (you know, like if your second best player just went out). Nick's bad shot selection also doesnt indicate poor effort on the Spurs' part...

Yes it does! He's wearing a Spurs jersey, so therefore, it indicates a poor effort on the Spurs part.

That's like the USC fans saying that Texas didn't beat them in the Rose Bowl. They were saying, "Texas didn't beat USC, Vince Young beat USC"! Well guess what, Vince Young was wearing a TEXAS JERSEY!!!

I don't know what it is but I agree with TNT

you can look at the facts

    rebounding
barry and finley playing like while beno sits
    the turnovers
the lack of FGA by duncan
the pornographically bad free throw shooting
the running away from the man with the ball on D

it all amounts to them playing like big s

That's not what I'm getting at. I wouldn't qualify shot selection as a part of the game that relies on effort. It's having intelligence and good decision-making skills. There are plenty of guards out there who try their very hardest, but still just dont understand the nuances of shot selection or reading a defense. Though they often affect eachother, effort and basketball I.Q are two different aspects of the game.
