I10 near Mandy?
I want Chicken Fried Steak, is there anywhere on I 10 that has bad ass CFS?
I10 near Mandy?
yes
Logan's roadhouse on De Za Vala has a decent one, but I can't really think of anywhere else in that area. Otherwise drive your ass to Bud Jones or LuLus.
Good chicken fried steaks is an oxymoron.
I don't know dude, but I had a great CFS sandwich at Tom's Ribs yesterday.
The Lady that used to be married to the owner of jailhouse got a divorce and opened up LuLus on Main. Its basically the same. Jess and I go pretty often.
Only 97% of the time. Most restaurants here confuse "good chicken fried steak" with "big chicken fried steak"
Chicken fried steak is my culinary kryptonite. Best I've had is at Longhorn Cafe in Leon Springs, but that's still a good 15 minutes from Mandy.
Bill Miller's is right there on NW Military and George road (between Huebner and Wurzbach) and, although it's technically fast-food and not really CFS, you seriously cannot with their chicken tenders and gravy. I will take every possible step to ensure that is the last meal I eat before I die.
That is heaven in a box.
I find there always has to be a ballance. If properly eaten, a meal featuring CFS as its centerpiece should leave you feeling like you're 4 cm dilated and the baby is comming out feet-first. But then again, the CFS has to be good enough so that you WANT to feel that way. Most restaurants here confuse "good chicken fried steak" with "big chicken fried steak"
The steak should be thick enough so that you can actually taste the cowy goodness, but not so thick so as to detract from the breading, gravy, and mashed potatos. The gravy should in no way retain the characteristics of the water it was made from. It should be thick enough so that you can spell out funny words (like "booger") on your plate, yet runny enough so that you are reminded to take a duce after you dine.
And to think, I just ate too.
I think it burned down.
Dude, Bill Millers Chicken Tenders are the !
Man you can't beat Tip Top on Fredricksburg. They're CFS is awesome, their Fried Chicken is great too. Go Tuesday, they have the CFS plate for 4.75 dine in.
Tip Top is good.
Longhorn cafe has some damn good burgers but I've never had their CFS.
Longhorn,
one of the redeeming qualities of working at Blanco and 1604.
Mushroom Swiss burgers at "tha horn" are one of lifes guilty pleasures.
The KEDA Fried Choriz is AWESOME!
Seriously, does anyone want to buy me some Bill Miller's chicken tenders? I think it's #4 on the menu. Chicken tenders, fries, gravy and bread. Wash it down with a Pepsi. Heaven for like $5.
My summer job was right across the street from one (I walked), so I could just take a 30 minute lunch break and indulge in fried, chicken and gravy-y heaven. Fringe benefits are great.
On the 6th day god made man, then on the 7th he made Bill Miller's chicken tenders and said, "Glad I saved the best for last."
Yeah, I live like 3 blocks from there. Thats a good price on the CFS. They need to buy some containers for their salad though. I can't deal with lettuce in my CFS gravy when I get a to-go order.
Yeah, i can't stand they put the salad on the same plate. Just tell them you want the salad before, if you don't you're stuck with it on your plate.
