Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't Spurs #1 in that category last season?
At first glance, the D stats look about where they should be based upon prior seasons (blocked shot avg is noticably down though) while the O stats (except for FG%) and differentials seem somewhat weaker than last season.
Good summary. I expect the Spurs to catch the Pistons in points differential by season's end as long as Duncan and Gino can stay on the floor most of the season.
Very very troubling, on some categories they are top 5 which is they way they should be, but on others they're bottom 5 which just proves they that they're doing. But whatever, I think its pretty obvious we aren't getting the best record in the NBA, the important thing is to beat the mavs or we're 4 in playoffs.
Perhaps Chip has helped with the shooting from the field but definitely not from the line (last season they were 26th with a 72.4% avg).
It looks like the ever changing rotation due to injuries et al hasn't hurt the D too much but has hurt the offense.
stats, what does your gut tell you?
My gut tells me that ing stats would not be that pleasurable.
Anyways, right now the Spurs don't have the offensive execution to take out Detroit in a 7 game series. Of course, the good news is that a championship in January only holds meaning for fans of the Sacramento Kings and Dallas Mavericks.
I feel the same way...
My gut tells me that we play too comfortable with no drive.
My gut tells me that right now Detroit would beat us 4-1.
My gut tells me that we CAN turn that around come playoff time. But we must start with that turnaround Now.
Offense = B- (too inconsistent)![]()
Defense= B (rebounding and steals still suck.)![]()
Rebounding= D- ( I am most disappointed in this aspect.)![]()
Free Throws= F![]()
Coaching = C+ (Stop playing around)![]()
Team Effort= C (Somebody please flip the switch to on)![]()
Time to Improve= A+ (Thank God)![]()
This is probably exactly what I would say. If we would improve all these categories, I don't think anyone could touch us.
But will we do it though? I hope so. We need to be hungry like Detroit, it's sad to know that, because we are the Champs.
LET'S GO SPURS!!!!![]()
The spurs need to defend better.....that's the key to win a championship
I don't buy the 'new guys need to work in' excuse, because the Spurs have always had to bring new guys in--and mostly they weren't former stars or All-stars like NVE and Finley.
Then there are the injury excuses, and God knows this team needs a healthy Tim and Ginobelli.
However, I don't see the killer instinct yet that's necessary for a repeat champion. They seem like they are on autopilot sometimes.
"Spurs #1 in that category last season"
Spurs were #1 in LEAST number of opponent 3Gs attempted.
but
Spurs were also #1 in HIGHEST opponent 3G%.
Meanining: the Spurs defended/prevented 3G shot attempts the best, but when opponents actually shot 3Gs, they hit them at a very high rate. weird, huh?
IIRC, last season the Spurs allowed only 9 PPG from 3Gs.
Ahhh, that's what it was. I knew we were good in something with the 3G shot last season![]()
And I remember most of those opponent 3-pointers being WIDE open, with no one within 15 feet of them.
I'm a little concerned about the low PPG for the team so far this year. Being 22nd in the league in scoring is scary for this team, especially since they lack a defensive monster outside of Bowen. If the playoffs started today, the Spurs wouldn't have the offense to make it to the NBA Finals.
Luckily there are three more months to fine tune.
29th in average steals made per game (6.02)
23rd in average opponent turnovers per game (13.48)
This is an interesting stat considering that the Spurs have Bowen and Manu.
More fuel that the media is blowing ass smoke when discussing Bowen as a defensive specialist.
Exactly, why can't the Spurs get any?
Honestly, I'm not happy with the way we are playing right now, but it is due in part to injuries...I think the chemistry that we need to get past Detroit just isn't there, but I expect to to come with time. I wish everyone would be healthy. With a record as good as we have at this point in the season, you would think the team was 100%, but we havn't even been close to that.
Also, Rasho....shouldn't....start. Can I get a Nazr?
