Individual talent-wise, I'd say they're pretty even. Duncan has Parker, Manu, and Bruce. Garnett has Ricky Davis. Of course Tim's going to come out on top 9 out of 10 times.

^^^ KG has bragging rights over Tim. He led his team (the same exact team who made the WCF) to the lottery. The wolves would easily win that division if they had Duncan. That is what seperates the 2 from each other. Their presence and plus KG is a perimeter player who takes jump shots while Duncan is a low post player who demands double and triple teams. Please dont say supporting casts is what seperates the two. It is leadership and intangables that do.
THe difference is that TD makes his teammates better.

Start comparing Garnett to David Robinson.
Start comparing Garnett to another athletic 7-footer who once twisted with an ever-changing franchise. Start wondering, as it once was with Robinson, if super-human talents are going to waste.
Start seeing Garnett as another one-time MVP who has reason to question if anything bigger is coming his way. And start asking what happens if Garnett doesn't get the same kind of lottery gift that came to Robinson.
Will Garnett go down as the greatest player to never play in an NBA Finals?
Garnett sounds like Robinson now, too. He talked Saturday night in calm, patient tones, just as Robinson did when the Spurs would change coaches or add new players.
Garnett had reason to be optimistic. He played hard on every possession, as he always does, and his new teammates followed. Midway through the fourth quarter the Timberwolves could have pulled within two points, but Ricky Davis, who played for the Celtics just 48 hours before, had a fast-break layup curl out.
Even with Duncan playing as he hasn't for a month, this was close. Only when Michael Finley followed Davis' miss with a tough three did the Spurs get the break they needed, and Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili went for seven-straight points to end Minnesota's hope.
"I really like the scrap by our team tonight," said the coach, Dwane Casey. "They've been together for 500 games, and we've been together for two days."
It might seem like the Spurs have been together for 500 games, but only Duncan has been around that long. The others have arrived year by year, piece by piece.
The general opinion has been that it's easy to build around No. 21. Duncan is so flexible and smooth that players naturally fit next to him. It's hard to mess up a Duncan lineup, right? The Spurs have heard that for almost a decade now.
But Minnesota's No. 21 shows the other side. Garnett ranks with Duncan, albeit with a different assortment of skills. And yet over these past 500 games the Timberwolves have shuffled lineups, taken on iffy characters and looked like a confused franchise.
Actually, this goes back further than 500 games. When Garnett entered the league, the best player in his locker room was Isaiah Rider. For Duncan, it was Robinson.
Duncan also had other veterans around him, so no wonder those around the Timberwolves say Garnett doesn't even like to talk about Duncan. Envy can have that effect.
Then the Spurs rebuilt on the run, and the Timberwolves made a few key, franchise-changing mistakes. According to reports in Minnesota, Garnett didn't like the Wally Szczerbiak draft the day it was made.
In retrospect, Garnett had a point. Rip Hamilton and Shawn Marion were available. But it was the Timberwolves' second first-round pick that year that hurt more. They chose an unproven Duke kid, William Avery, who busted as few do.
Still available: Ron Artest and Andrei Kirilenko.
A lot of other teams missed on these guys, and the Spurs could have made similar mistakes. The Timberwolves, for example, have been slapped around for taking Ndudi Ebi, a Houston teenager, with the 26th overall pick in 2003. The Spurs might have done the same — if Minnesota hadn't drafted two slots ahead.
Still, these are the moments that alter teams for years, and the Spurs altered theirs with draft discoveries in Parker and Ginobili. They've also created a better climate, leaning on personalities who get along. The Spurs wouldn't have burned a first-round pick, for example, on Rashad McCants as Minnesota did last spring.
Garnett tries not to see it. This is "the reality," he says, and complaining does no good. But most believe what Charles Barkley said the other night. Garnett, he said, is "lonely and getting lonelier."
Robinson knew the feeling until Duncan arrived. Barkley never won a le, but he played in the NBA Finals. Patrick Ewing also played in one, and John Stockton two and Karl Malone three.

To compare Dave's trials to KG's is disrespectful of Dave. KG has wasted the talent around him by fighting and bickering with it.
KG is a great player on a s of a team. TD is a great player standing on a solid foundation.
The year Minny was so good they had Cassell and Spree. Now they have Ricky Davis. They lost their Tony and Manu and replaced them with a Mike Mitchel. The Spurs, meanwhile, have kept their successes in place then built around them.
I think Duncan and KG are about as equal players as you can find in the league. The difference is the foundation of their homes.
I'm just sick of a pistonfan giving your team a blowjob. I am sick of hearing how the spurs are so much better. Face it. Dallas is no longer soft. Ask the jazz how good Dallas is. Sloan thinks Dallas can win it. I'm to the point where I don't think Dallas can lose anymore. The lineup of Terry, Griffin, Howard, Dirk, and Diop and a bench of Harris, Daniels, Stackhouse, Van Horn, and Dampier has no weaknesses.
