If the NBA had a 3-point shootout...like the NHL does to settle their ice hockey OT games, which 3 Spurs would you select to shoot them? Rules: shoot uncontested from any place on the floor behind the arc, and like the NHL rules... three shooters a side take alternating shots. If still tied after three shots per team, 'sudden-death' shots will be taken to reach a decision.)
Here are mine, in order:
1. Bruce Bowen (corner only)
2. Robert Horry
3. Manu Ginobili
Who would you select?
If they did that you would see an influx of goofy white guys that can shoot an open three pointer granny style all day long.
I don't watch hockey, but aren't the NHL shots contested?
What would be fun is they have to shoot 1000 without stopping.
Whoever get's the most winz.
Great we could put the best shot blocker in front of them to try to block it.
Yes, they are contested shots but the NBA has such a size differential, fouls would have to enter into the picture. That's why an uncontested 3 pointer is the choice here.
Like hockey, you use only the available roster players and no one player would shoot more than once until all available players had taken one shot.
My shooters 4-12 would be:
4. Brent Barry
5. Michael Finley
6. Nick Van Exel
7. Beno Udrih
8. Tony Parker
9. Tim Duncan
10. Fabricio Oberto
11. Rasho Nesterovic
12. Nazr Mohammed
shootouts in the nba will go on forever
To make it legit like the NHL you would have to add a perimeter defender. My choices are:
To defend: Bowen
To Shoot: Barry, Finley, Manu
Note* Bowen would be too tired to shoot after defending three opponents!
I like that idea also if it came to fact!
No Horry?? No Bowen??
I would go with
1.Barry
2.Horry
4.Manu
4.Bowen
5.Parker

I listed 1. Bowen, 2. Horry and 3. Manu in my first post.
I've seen Oberto on NBA TV with Pop shooting threes. He made 7 or 8 in a row. Pop stated he was holding out on his secret talent. Oberto has a decent shot from beyond the arc. I would put him in the 8th slot ahead of Tony based on what I saw during that interview.
1-Chauncey
2-Prince
3-Hamilton

The proof is in da puddin
My mistake.
Based on clutchness and ability to shoot, my order would be ...
1. Manu Ginobili
2. Robert Horry
3. Nick Van Exel
4. Michael Finley
5. Brent Barry
6. Bruce Bowen
7. Beno Udrih
8. Tony Parker
9. Tim Duncan
10. Nazr Mohammed
11. Fabricio Oberto
12. Rasho Nesterovic
no way. chauncey, tayshaun, and rasheed. rasheed could shoot a 3 pover a defender and an open 3 pointer way better than rip.
If the NBA had a 3-point shootout...
I'd stop watching.
I don't know.
Rip leads the league in 3pt. % though, doesn't he?
Yep. Not having the best 3 point shooter in the league out there would be a mistake.
I still wouldn't be watching, but...![]()
It would be even more fun to have say a 3 on 3 contest for the minutes - wide open and fun.
Yes he does, but he's only shot 60 or so -- fewer than anybody else in the top 50 in 3PT %.
