Wow...a little more damage and that Toyota would start to look like my '83 Chevy S-10 Blazer.

I can;t belive that thing survived a drowning!
I don't buy it.
I love how the tires are inflated perfectly at the very end, probably to Toyota manufacturing specs.
traitor!!!
I believe it that is a credible show and I doubt they did any serious mods. Besides who cares about the tires, the thing started.
I used to a own a teeny tiny 1986 toyota pre-runner.
and that thing went thru and back. I agree - it would've taken an act of god to kill it. I went mudding wiht that thing almost every weekend (it was a stick shift) and only had 1 or 2 dents to show for my troubles. I rolled it once on the beach and the roof didn't even cave. hahahahahha! reminds me... I drove it so far into the ocean one time I had ot have a friend pull me out casue my tires were floating.
god i miss that truck.
I don't doubt it's "toughness," but the wrecking ball in the right place (like the engine instead of the rear end), and dropping it from a bit higher than 10 feet, and putting it on top of the demolished building (which won't do much since it is on top-- o!!!). Put the damn thing on the bottom and drive it away.
I know I sound overly skeptical, I've just seen way too many situations where things can be made to look more amazing than they really are.
This seems like one of those times.
I love the music they play everytime the thing starts, that is crazy. I have an Isuzu Rodeo with 130,000 miles on it right now and I have wrecked it and drove for 5 miles with a broken radiator and that thing has never left me stranded (knock on wood). I also have a honda civic but it has not been through .
all I'm saying is I dare you to try the same thing with a malibu or a chevy s-10
Yeah, they don't last long after a school-zone speed bump!!!all I'm saying is I dare you to try the same thing with a malibu or a chevy s-10
hahaha that was awesome
One of my best friends is now several years into his 3rd 4-Runner. All three of them have gone at least 150K miles with little or no maintenance. . . we're talking oil changes, spark plugs and new tires.
After about 150K more expensive stuff starts to wear out, but compared to some of the american cars I've owned his 4-Runners have gone double the miles before any serious required work was needed.
My first Grand Am (Yes, a GM car) went 163,000 (in 4 years) before the engine ... and transmission...went out (at the same time...weird).
My second one is at 102,000 (in almost 7 years) and has been great but for a new fuel pump while it was still under warranty. Oh, that and I just got my after-market window regulator I ordered just in time to put in this weekend .... I replaced one in a different door about 3 months ago. That's about it. And the clips in those dumbass things are made of cheap plastic...so you know that's happening sooner or later.![]()
To add to the Toyota love:
We have a 13 year old POS Toyota truck. It has a little over 220,000 miles on it. For years it was used for pizza delivery. For most of its life we couldn't afford good maintenance, including oil changes and tune-ups. To say we're rough on it isn't nearly strong enough.
The first serious repair work we've ever had on it was 2 weeks ago, the radiotor broke. We probably paid more to have that thing fixed (< $400) than the truck is worth re-sale value wise...but it was worth every penny.
Now, the ac is shot and there's a hole in the floor board (we wore through the vinyl and one of the 'plugs' came out and we lost it.) But for less than 10K I'd say it's lived a full and productive life.
