So I got back from the spurs game and am still very stressed and bewildered as to how a supposed good time like us can still allow a horrific team like toronto in the game and even take us to OVERTIME. i dont care if we were missing an aging TD or not, this "road trip" come together crap is BS. we havent improved at all. having said that there were def some bright spots in the game. first however, here are some pictures that are very large and in some cases blurry

and here's a picture of David Bowie

....OK so at the start of the game I was happy to see both Brent and big shot rob on the court nearly an hour before tip off to work on their shots. I was more impressed w/ brent doing this cuz the dude gets less playing time than beno udrih. Manu got a very nice reception when he was announced as there were several argentinian fans in the building. There were also some EXTREMELY annoying girls yelling "manu! manu!" every 2 minutes until i lost control and said "SHUT UP HE CANT HEAR YOU!" which caused security to come over and check everyone's tickets which led to the girls getting busted for sitting in the wrong seats! BYE BYE annoying es! anyway, i was upset to not see Tim in the starting lineup but for some weird reason the presence of Popovich in person made me forget about tim! yes i'm serious, the guy is like one of those people who when they enter a building you just sense something. which is why i posted a picture of david bowie. its the same feeling. so the game went on, we were up 50-34 on cruise control, parker and manu tearing up the raptors. you know whats better seeing bruce bowen wide open for a 3 and the entire building groaning in unison? is seeing bruce bowen hit the wide open 3 and the crowd groaning even LOUDER after he hits the shot! music to my ears! unfortunately, we started to slack off and give the raptors an AND 1 on EVERY play in the 2nd half allowing them to come back. finley surprisingly played well, and was hitting most of his shots and BB's defense in the OT was huge. however most impressive, as well as player of the game, has to be sean marks AKA "that #40 guy" to most of the raptors fans. they were very relieved when he fouled out with good reason! manu was incredible as he sliced and diced his way through bosh's face and TP is even faster in real life then he is when you fast forward a layup replay of his on TV! so overall, i should've enjoyed the game, but it was too close for comfort and the spurs still have a LONG way to go but the reserves looked superb today and hopefulyl TD can get over his flu thing so we can pick up the slack!

By the way -- "aging Tim Duncan"

    WTF?

Has Tim been discovered to be Danny Almonte's long lost (older) brother? Dude isn't even 30. And it was pretty freakin' obvious tonight that the Spurs are what they are because Tim Duncan makes them that.

bowie was not the best artist of the 70s. miles davis was still putting out far superior albums, zappa was far more out there and inventive, funkadelic was putting out incredible albums, sly and the family stone, too many to count. subjective anyway.

yes granted those artists are very very good, but they all dominated within their own genre. bowie dominated everything from glam, to hard rock, to electronic music, to R&B to new wave

and yeah the lighting did suck on the pics!

i meant to take more but the game got so close in the 2nd half that i was too tense to take any more photos!

Pretty sad when one of the best teams in the L comes to town and you have that kind of turnout.

    From today's Toronto Star:

Once again failing when it mattered most, unable to complete the simplest of basketball shots while equally unable to solve the complexities of a seasoned defensive scheme, the Raptors were beaten 125-118 in overtime by the San Antonio Spurs as a season-high crowd of 19,284 at the Air Canada Centre saw the difference between a team that knows how to win and one that hopes to.

I didn't know you could count attendance in metric ... then there was this gem from the same article:

It was the second straight overtime game the team has lost — it dropped one to the equally experienced Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday afternoon — and once again turned on mistakes Toronto made down the stretch and plays a better team was able to execute.

    "equally experienced" Clippers?

The only reason that game was close...was because of FT's. 25-40 in the Raptors favor. And we only got to 25 cuz they fouled at the end of the game.

    We did great overcoming that.

The courtside seats on those side are never filled. They sell the ones that face the TV cameras first. The rest of the arena was pretty much filled, obviously not sold out, but it wasn't sparse either. THe Raptors are actually 18th in league attendance. So before you go spewing out the "OMG! CANADA IS TEH SUCK!!!!" crap, realize that there are 12 American teams some of which have far better teams and far worse attendance than us.

but also realize that toronto is one of the 5 biggest cities to own an NBA team

and i dont blame them for not showing up to a raptors game. the raptors are second to the knicks and almost as bad as the hawks in temrs of management. bob should be shot for how bad he's made this team from bad to awful. and even though marks played 2 seasons for the raptors, nobody remembered him. so hence why he's that "#40" guy

Playing without Duncan, the Spurs had to play at a tempo to outscore Toronto. Considering the Raptor are the third best scoring team in the NBA, the Spurs deserve credit for beating them at their own game, in their own gym without the Spurs best player. If not for the sick FT advantage forged by the Raptors, this game is never close.

Scoreboard: a "W" is a "W" and nothing else matters.
