Didn't San Diego just host the GOP convention in 1996 anyway?
Seattle PIThe GOP is eyeing Seattle as a possible site for the 2008 Republican National Convention.
... Chicago's Mayor Richard Daley said thanks but no thanks this week. Chicago wants to focus on a possible bid for the 2016 Summer Olympics.
San Diego sounded a similar note. Mayor Jerry Sanders, in a statement, said, "The city has other important priorities."
As for Seattle? The city is taking a pass, too, a spokesman for Mayor Greg Nickels said Friday. "There's the question of whether we even have a facility to hold such a convention," spokesman Marty McOmber said. "And the issue of having enough hotel rooms. We're not going to bid for it."
San Antonio would love to host the GOP, but a Republican political convention in Texas ain't gonna happen, unless it's in Houston

Dallas'd probably love to host it again; it's definitely Bush Country there.
Dallas just doesn't have the political pull it had in the 80's. Besides, the last three GOP Conventions have been in liberal havens.
I think Dallas's political pull exists mainly at the state level.
Nobody wants that crap GOP in their city.
