I think Pop knows we need his shooting. So far he's splitting time with Van X as Tony's back-up. Does the mean he's losing faith in Van X? What do you think about it?

I think Vanexel is now more in the system and the learning process is over or at the end. And beno can provide some playmaking and shooting. Vanx has got only shooting and he will now have less minutes cause he must be more fresh in the playoffs

And is rasho our third center now? Oberto a second one?

I like Beno's energy. He's always moving, playing aggressive now. Oh, and he can shoot too.

Oberto may be 30, but he's active as too.

    "Vanx has got only shooting"

and he shoots poorly. Amazing how a few huge 3s or crunch times in your career obscures all of your mediocrities.

I think I read that Pop wants to give Beno some minutes to keep him active, not burried on the bench game after game. I'm not reading too much into this, but I like Beno's aggressiveness and energy. But come playoff time I'm pretty sure VanX will get the minutes.

Beno's performance in last year's playoffs was something I never want to see again.

That having been said, I'm happy with Beno getting the majority of the backup point guard minutes as long as he can handle it. He's been playing better than Nick. And at this point in their careers, I'm not convinced that Nick is really the better player.

Beno can do some things. He's a good shooter and a solid distributor. I think he's got a future in this league as a solid backup or borderline starter. He's got shortcomings that will prevent him from becoming one of the better players at his position, but there is no reason why he can't be as good as someone like Speedy Claxton.

Maybe. Nazr got the start then Oberto came in for him. Rasho only played 3 mins.

After this season is up, VanX wil probably retire due to his left elbow problems and I'm 100% sure if the Spurs will win a le, he'll retire. After this season is done, Pop will most likely go back to Beno as his main backup PG and I like that. Beno can be a solid backup for years to come plus his contract is very cheap for another year or two.

No-- Rasho came in for Nazr, but he was forcing things too much. Plus Memphis went small. Wright only played 5 minutes, as well. One rough night for Rasho is all it was.

They should trade Parker's stupid ass and start beno.

Beno is a very good backup but I don't think he is a starter in this league, unless he was on a team like the Rockets. He may develop into more as his career progresses but not right now.

Beno has the best jumper on the team, and is probably in the top 3 regarding court vision. He had some problems bringing the ball up against Detroit in the Finals, mainly because the refs were letting Hunter amputate his arms between the elbow and wrist on every play without a call. Makes it kind of hard to dribble.

Beno is not affraid to take it to the hole, the offense does grind to a halt when Beno is in there...on the other hand, NVE is washed up and so HITA

I think Beno is playing very well. Right now, he's the second best point guard on the team.

That said, last night Bobby Jackson (yes, Bobby Jackson) applied full court pressure against Beno and Beno wasn't able to bring the ball up the court. I don't think Bobby has played defense since he played for Minnesota. In college.

What was his excuse VS Denver?

Pop goes with what's working and who's working. NVE has not proved he still can do the job. With them even thinking about trading Barry, it was pretty evident that we needed to make sure that somebody at guard was getting enough minutes to get the job done.

If Barry continues to play like he did after the trade fell through, beno may not get as many minutes, but I feel he's moved NVE to the practice squad.
