They were going to need Thomas so that they could phase Amare in. Bad timing...

He starts two-on-two drills tomarrow and is on track for his return in two weeks.

    We'll see.

They are close to getting Grant back as well.

Good thing they traded for Tskitishvilli!!!!

So Amare would come back as 5, and Shawn is stuck at the 4? Rather than:

    KT 5
    AS 4
    SM 3

    It would likely be

    Amare 5
    Diaw 4
    Marion 3

With Diaw and Marion sliding over for around 15/20 minutes a game to play the 5 and 4.

KT or no KT, the Suns still lack the size needed to win in the playoffs. They don't have a guy that can get away with single coverage on Duncan. And they'll probably get badly beaten on the boards.

Explain to me how the Suns will get beat on the boards if at full health?

    Marion, Thomas, Stoudemire, Diaw

All capable of double-digit rebounding. Even if all Thomas does is box-out, he'll help Marion, Diaw and Amare immensly because of it.

As of now, Duncan's injuries are the Suns best defender.

Diaw played well against us. He and Amare together could create some problems for the Spurs.

I was actually looking forward to Thomas stealing some of the minutes from these two.

I don't think this loss will hurt the Suns that much if Amare is at full strength.

    The injuries are piling up.
Thomas is the Suns best interior defender and rebounder.

    This loss really hurts.

Without Thomas, Stoudemire, and Grant they have no big guys.

    Yikes.....

You had none when Stoudamire was hurt, and the others were healthy.

No player has ever come back from that type of surgery on schedule. Webber, and Najera to name a couple. Granted Amare is younger than those guys, but I would be surprised if he can play at full strength this season. Then a again, an Amare that isn't at full strength is better than most.

    Nope.

The Suns health concerns the Spurs.

No HS player had ever won ROY until he did it either.

You already mentioned his age but also those other guys had knee reconstruction due to ligament damage.
Amare had a small defect in the cartilage on an otherwise healthy knee.
His injury is not even comparable to guys like Webber, Najera, or Hardaway.

Amare will be ready to play when he decides he is.
I have seen enough amazing stuff from that kid I am not going to start doubting him now.
