UT has already wrecked shop in early recruiting
Anyone here hear any word on how many & who?
A guy was saying 8 or so but didn't here anything except that everyone thought Gooch would be the 1st OL.
Texas is off to a of a start on next year's class. So far 8 strong verbal commitments from some of the top players in the state. The biggest part of the early commits is getting 5 of the top 6 OL prospects in the state, and the one guy who hasn't committed yet (Tre Allen of Grand Prarie) is considered a heavy lean to UT. So far here is what we got:
OL commits: Matt Nader, 6'6/295lbs Westlake
Jerrod Gooch, 6'4/284lbs Vidor
Kyle Hix, 6'6/290lbs Aledo
Michael Huey, 6'5/290lbs Kilgore
Andre McGaskey, 6'4/290lbs La Marque
So, there's the core for our OL of the future. The three other commits were as follows:
Keenan Robinson, LB/6'3/211lbs, 4.5 40 time. Rated as one of
the top, if not the top LB prospect in the state-Plano
Ben Wells, DB/6'0/174lbs, 4.4 40 time-Beaumont
Earl Thomas, DB/5'10/174lbs, 4.4 40 time- Orange
Those are the guys so far, basically we've already got 1/3 of next year's class in the bag (assuming no changes in verbal commits). Also is the possibility that the Tre Allen kid commits soon, and then there is the Ryan Mallet kid, QB out of Texarkana. Some services have him listed as the #1 offensive recruit in the country. He goes about 6'5/230lbs with a very strong arm and good mobility. Main concern with him is if he thinks he could come to UT and unseat Colt or Jevan from the starting QB spot. Main schools at this point are us and Michigan for his services. All in all an excellent start to recruiting!![]()
IT's still arguable that UT is ed
We can have an 2003 OU-esque front line, but if our quarterback still has the same collegiate experience as, say, Marcus Bryant, then its still completely up in the air how good we'll be until we see some footage.
I'm sure glad we're playing those stupid aggies in Austin next season, or I'd be kinda scared..
If Bomar was able to put together an 8-4 season for us last year, I'm pretty sure you guys won't do any worse than that.
cbf knows about football
he's a hardcore real longhorn
but
he doesnt even know who wayne mcgarity is
he thinks hodges mitc is a conservative teenager
he doesnt even remember the texas games we watched, and talked about from 2003
but in like 2002 he had less longhorn fb knowledge than oliver beene
so he's improved by like 4000%
its pretty funny
hes more of a hoops fan
he knows all about chinstraped baby paulinos though
I guess they also verballed Curtis Brown. Here is a list.
roflrofl
Well if I have noone to talk horns football up here in DALLAS with, what do you expect? I see more Sooners in 1 day than I ever saw in a fortnight back in Austin..![]()
Oklahoma Sooner Conservatives Against Rationality (OSCAR) is the most important voting bloc up here

I still stand by my observation that there's way less people wearing UT apparel up here in DFW after this year's Rose Bowl than I saw wearing Sooner gear after OU beat Florida State in '01.
It was always fun to ask crimson-and-cream wearers what Barry Switzer and JC Watts were up to, and they'd say, "Who?"
Without a doubt. I see the occasional horns cap (white with orange not vice versa) and RARELY see a horns shirt.
What's really funny was that prior to the Rose Bowl, Victoria was undergoing a massive horns explosion. Which means all those posers bought up the memorbilia from Hibbet Sports in the mall cuz 2 years ago Victoria was DOMINANTLY aggie...
The public is too fickle
pick a team and stick with it
Today? I'm sportin my 5 year old faded burnt orange horns shirt with a plain black longhorn
Rosebowl, motha as
