What deadline.
Tomorrow is the deadline. Will the Spurs sign him or will they sign Tim Thomas? Will they stay put and not add anyone?
The dead one.
Isn't it the dealine to sign a player so that he can be eligible to play with the team for the playoffs?
Yes, tomorrow is the deadline. If a player like Tim Thomas is waived tomorrow, then he can still be picked up and be eligible. But a player like Spree (who is already available) would need to be signed by tomorrow's deadline.
So a quick resolution is not in the cards. The Spurs seem to have their sights set on Thomas. Spree feels like a backup plan, though he might've been the next step had the Barry trade gone through.
I feel niether will be a Spur.
Actually, since Sprewell hasn't played with an NBA team this year, it doesn't matter when they sign him. Last year they signed Glenn Robinson in April and he was still eligible for the playoff run. So unfortunately, this will probably drag on for a while.
Ahh, that's true. The ones that have to be signed by tomorrow are the ones that were on a team this season.
Ok. So only the Thomas signing has to be done by tomorrow if waived?
The signing can happen at any time up until the start of the postseason, IIRC. This is the Billy Paultz rule, I think. It's done to prevent a team from waiving a player right before the playoffs and then being picked up by a contender.
I think that the waive has to be done by the deadline. And then he can be signed after that.
Spree06 can't shoot, can't make plays, won't rebound.
Spree96 is long gone.
I will be shocked if the Spurs pick him. However, Pop has liked him for a long time now. I like the way Barry is playing since the trade rumor though.
nope, but if they do all he will do is warm the bench throughout the playoffs.

According to the Rocky Mountain News, the Nuggets may waive Charles Smith...
Spree06 can't start and play 30+ minutes a night at a high level, but for 12 to 15 a night off the bench, he'd be nice.
I may be the only one, but who is Charles Smith? Didn't the Spurs have someone named Charles Smith before?
The Spurs have had two Charles Smiths and the one mentioned above is one of them.
So it looks like the spurs are in no hurry to sign anyone then... damn.. guess we'll have to wait. Lets just focus in on Dallas for now.
Is he any good?
I thought he was a nice 4th guard four years ago. He's had one major injury since then.
I saw Spider play a couple of Euro games last year and he was shooting the lights out from downtown.
What can Spree06 do that Barry cannot do?
Other then be a petulant nuisance.
Put your crack pipes and cornrolls down.
