"dime con quien andas y te dire quien eres,"

Last October, U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar -- a so-called Democrat from Laredo, Texas -- sponsored a bill called the "Border Law Enforcement Act of 2005" that would essentially deputize members of the Minutemen militia by giving them new les, badges and guns.

There is a saying in Spanish,"dime con quien andas y te dire quien eres,"which basically means that you can tell a lot about a person by the company that they keep. Representative Cuellar sponsored the "Border Law Enforcement Act" with none other than the "Grand Dragon" of the anti-immigrant legislators - Rep. Tom Tancredo, Republican from Colorado. Cuellar's bill is also part of the draconian House-passed immigration reform bill HR 4437, which, among other wrong headed ideas, would further militarize the US/Mexico border, build a Berlin-style wall all along the border, and criminalize millions of immigrants and good Samaritans.

We all agree that our nation's immigration system is a complete disaster. No one knows this more than the millions of immigrants that bear its deadly consequences. Every day a human being dies at our nation's doorstep because our policymakers don't have the courage to create legal channels for migrant workers to contribute to our economy. They would rather turn a bind eye and allow suffering to continue along the border.

We can change this dreadful situation right now -- simply by creating legal means for migrant workers to participate in our economy. Let us not deceive ourselves anymore. And let us not allow any politician -- whether Latino or not -- to deceive us further. Building walls and giving away badges to untrained, gun-toting vigilantes is not the way. There is a better way to reform our disgraceful immigration system. Our economy needs workers and we need to create legal structures that honor their work and their human dignity.

Part of the Henry Cuellar co-sponsored bill will jail South Texas Priests and Nuns who offer water, food or emergency shelter to immigrants traveling through Texas. I can't wait till they start throwing Catholic Priests in Jail for being good Samaritans - this is gonna be good.

On another note, it turns out that Henry Cuellar maybe a seriel Bush hugger. The Lonestar project has film of Henry Cuellar hugging Dubya before the 05 State of the Union address very similar to Cuellar's hug in 06.

He does talk a little funny, not that there's anything wrong with that.

How does being a priest immunize you from breaking the law? If I am correct it
wont be a jail sentence, you just quit getting those federal dollars. I take it
you think it alright for anyone to just walk into this country and start getting all
the bennies that the country has to offer. I am just wondering what University
Hospital is going to do when they get cut off from federal money. They say they
will always treat any illegal that walks in.

Well according to this poll, Rodriguez is closing th gap. However, I don't know how accurate the poll is, as only 400 people were polled.

I wasn't arguing that his post was stupid, I was arguing that it was incoherent. While you may disagree with the substance of my "coconut" post, you at least understood the point I was making. I have no idea what the gtown is saying half the time he posts.

Cuellar is hardly Joe Libermann. At least Libermann only acts like a DINO, but when it comes to voting, he almost always tows the Demo line. Cuellar openly supports Republican legislation, , he even sat with the Republicans at the SOTU address. If he wants to be a Republican then he should run in a Republican majority congressional district.
