Stunned city residents turned on al-Qaida, and al-Jadaan, of the Karabila tribe, announced an agreement with the U.S.-backed Iraqi government to help with security.

The moves by al-Jadaan's men and Iraqi army units against al-Qaida forced many of the foreign fighters to flee to central and eastern areas of Iraq — some to the mountains near
Iran — that have large Sunni populations, al-Jadaan said.

That prompted tribes in the central city of Hawija, where some al-Qaida fighters sought refuge, to issue a statement earlier this week openly declaring war on foreign al-Qaida members.
Probably won't see that on Al- eera anytime soon.

This is clearly a feel-good piece (probably meant for an Iraqi audience if you get my drift). If things are going so well now, I guess the withdrawal of American troops can begin now like W promised, right? Yeah, don't hold your breath.

The real interesting thing in this article is if you google Army Maj. Gen. Anwar Mohammed Amin, you get page after page of unique hits, but if you google Abul-Rahman Mansheed, you get exactly no, (0), nada hits.

"We are against the killing of civilians for sectarian or ethnic reasons. That's why we are shedding the blood of Muslim extremists, especially al-Qaida," said Abul-Rahman Mansheed, a top Sunni politician in Hawija.
    Sloppy, sloppy...
