That's the most depressing news of the weekend. Kid didn't deserve that![]()
Apparently he got his eyeball dislodged or something during the Pitt-Nova game.
All I know is the announcers were pretty somber as I switched the channel over and they said he was already on his way to the hospital.

thats what i heard too. how sad. but can laser eye surgery fix that?
ESPN wouldn't even show the video right now.
OMG they said his eye may have came out of his head. it looks so bad ESPN Sportscenter wont even show the replay
If his eye was enucleated (poked out...literally) LASER does nothing for it. The key is the get the eye salvaged, placed back into the orbit, and ensure all the "wires" and "cables" are still connected. I will save you the cranial nerves and muscles involved, you're welcome.
EYES = BAAADDDD!!!
The announcers said that the courtside doctor called from a stretcher immediately upon seeing it.
Damn, this just ain't right for anybody, much less this kid that had a pro future.
According to eyewitness accounts his eye got poked out of socket. Not much laser surgery can do for that.thats what i heard too. how sad. but can laser eye surgery fix that?![]()
ESPN reporting that Ray's granddad said he's "all right."
"Nothing severe..."
thats great news, i heaed it too. i hope he can see by the time he turns pro
1) Courtside Dr calls for stretcher...no surprise...eyeballs and limbs are always "get the stretcher" moment (not plantar fasciitis or sprains, I mean CRITICAL STUFF).
2) I am glad it is nothing severe. That kid is AWESOME!
If the eye pops out, it can be popped back in assuming nothing gets severed. I hope that's the case. I bet his season is done, tho.
DITTO..I just hope he is not through through...
i bet so too, isnt gonna take some time to get some vision back?
UPDATE: has regained his vision, it was a soft-tissue injury, will be released from the hospital tonight.
thank God.![]()
Obviously the quality is lacking, but this is the best there is.
Doesn't appear as if the eye came completely out of the socket, but still came out far enough to really freak people out.
Maybe it did and the pictures failed to capture it because Ray was turned away from and had his hand covering the eye.
Thank God he's not blind. Not just for the Tournament, but his NBA future. He was a few months away from being a 1st-round pick. Hopefully nothing lingers.
I've got a link to a video, but so far, on three different computers, it's failed to load.
It takes like 20 minutes per, then has either crashed or just not shown the video.
I'll spare you the frustration unless you really want it.
I couldn't even wear contacts because I got freaked out about fooling around with my eyes. I can only imagine what it must have been like if he had to cup his eye in his hand, until they were able to pop it back in.
No idea if the extent was that bad, but several message boards were proclaiming it popped out. As in completely out. *shudder* That's just gross...
This has happened to Tim Duncan about 20 times in his career.
allan ray or ray allan?
allan ray vs allan?
huh?
Damn, that is pretty crazy. I haven't heard about that until just reading this now.
