We need to focus on the Pistons.
We can beat the Mavs in a 7-game series, whether they have home-court advantage or not. But (as last year proved) home-court could very well decide the series in a Spurs/Pistons final.
Cute.
I wonder how long you sat with one hand down your pants and the other on the mouse, waiting for a chance to post that pic. You climax yet? G'luck.
You always want the easiest path period, 1 seed in West could end up with overall top seed as well - got to somehow pick up three full games on the still formidable Pistons but it can be done if Pistons lose some!
The Mavs matter because it's the difference between playing a good team like the Clippers in the first round or a mediocre team like the Lakers/Hornets.
I don't understand this. Do you want them to try to win games in order to catch the Pistons but you don't want them to try to win games in order to win the division? What's the difference? Besides, who on the Spurs is focused on the Mavs? The only reason they are even mentioned is because of all the Mavs fans on here. They will go away once the Mavs lose a couple of games. What the fans do and what the team does are completely different.
That's true.
We definately should try to have a better record than the Mavs. But our priority should be to have a better record than the pistons. Playing a crappy, or less crappy, team in the first round shouldn't be what we're looking at. Just a thought.
"Our" priority should be to win games. Thats it. If DET and DAL lose, bonus. But all SA needs to do is concentrate on winning, and not worry about what other teams are doin.
In an ideal world, sure.
This isn't Utopia, though. People do look at the standings. They do use things like that for motivation, and they do set goals to finish ahead of certain teams and put extra emphasis on certain games.
I would think our priority is to win as many games as possible and not worry about chasing anyone. We cannot control the wins and loses for Detroit or Dallas unless we are playing them. But I would be more concerned with Dallas to begin with because they are in our conference and we want the 1 seed.
one word: Mouse?
note:
look how he taunted and bombarded us with silly posts after they had beaten us last yr![]()
You think Dallas can beat us? Even in Dallas?
, we could play all 7 games in Dallas, and we'd probably still win like 4-2. The team I"m worried about is the Pistons. Billups feels the need to make TP his , and Sheed gives a healthy Timmy fits...it's going to be brutal with a hurt Tim.
Had beaten us?
We won the finals. You guys give Mouse too much credit. Overrated, I say.
But lets focus on one thing at a time WCF comes first and we are not even there yet either. I think we worry about the Pistons if and when we meet them in the finals. You are jumping the gun.
Tim wasn't healthy last year, either, and Tony is a much better player this year...
Jumping the gun?
Just assuming the same thing happens this year as last. Seeing as there haven't been any significant changes in the top 4 teams. I can only look at what is expected, no?
Looking at what is expect, we have to look at our biggest challenge. Not our earliest. We can beat any team in the league without home court advantage. Except, maybe the Pistons.
That is true.
We didn't exactly win convincingly, though. Plus, TP hasn't really shown me much head-to-head with Billups still.
Our biggest challenge may be the Pistons but why worry about the chase? as stated before we cannot control their wins and loses we just need to win as many as possible. And If and when we face them in the Finals we should be able to beat them on either court if we are true champions. What do you think we should differently to improve our chances? Not much you can do other than keep winning.
That's suc a cliche.
It bugs me when people say stuff like that. You're right, there's not much we can do. But if you listen to the news, other posters...and fans in general, you get the feeling it's a Mavs/Spurs race for the 1 seed in the West.
My point is, people who think like that, should not put the Mavs in the same class as the Spurs. Rather, it should be the Pistons. I'm not trying to change the Spurs approach, I'm simply stating people who think that way are wrong and misguided.
i was referring to just one game when i think Duncan wasn't even playing. the one when Dallas had a 30+ advantage?
look how happy they were. Mouse thought like Dallas is already the 2006 Champs.
New year, new look for both the Spurs and Pistons. Pistons have a couple guys on the bench who can score now, instead of only McDyess. ...Detroit can legitimately go 8-9 deep this year, instead of 7 like last year, when we left scrubs like Darvin Ham and Ronald Dupree on the active roster over Carlos Delfino. Brown rushed Delfino back, Delfino proved he should be on the playoff roster, and Brown rewarded him with a pat on the back, along with a your not going to be in the playoff high five. Main reason Delfino felt like going back to Europe(and the fact he wasn't told by management until after the media, or something like that). Spurs have gotten the same in Finley, and Van Exel will someday get his scoring back(). Should be a good series if both teams make it.
Mouse is a joke.
What do you do with jokes, laugh at them...move on. They get less and less funny, and eventually people stop telling them.
okay if you say so![]()
actually i was just trying to be funny when I said : mouse.
of course edge over the Mavs is :HCA.
I'm OUT.
i think getting hca over detroit is out of the question at this point since there's only 18 games or so left and i highly doubt we can make up THREE (if you include the fact that we don't own the tie breaker) on detroit considering that even though they're slumping, we aren't playin too hot either
