NO. 12 MONTANA 87, NO. 5 NEVADA 79: A year ago, the Grizzlies needed four minutes to score in an 88-77 first-round loss to top-seeded Washington. Thursday, the Big Sky champion led 40-33 at halftime and never appeared intimidated.
"I said this year, the story line doesn't need to be that we were up by seven at halftime and we let it slip away," coach Larry Krystowiak said. "The experience from last year helped us through this time."

But Virgil Matthews, who scored 20, answered with a 3-pointer and two free throws to start a 9-0 run. Kevin Criswell ended it with a 17-foot jumper to make it 72-60.
