thx
Pop calling in from the grocery store and signing autograph.
Manu practiced today.
Sean Marks' shoulder still bothering him (?), NVE still on the shelf.
Neither Dallas nor SA will play players that aren't ready to go before the playoffs.
Pop thought they played well against Houston (they got better and better) considering it was 2nd game of back-to-back.
Don Harris read Bill Simmons quote regarding Spurs being tired and Pop being in his last year. Pop said he's dreaming. Don reminded of Pop's long-term contract and Pop agreed he'd be crazy to stop now.
Don asked if there is a chance the Spurs will add another piece. Pop said not likely. He likes the way Melvin understands the system so if they keep anyone it would be Melvin...unless there is an injury...otherwise, probably not.
Caller asked about the Nash strategy the other night. Pop said they made a choice to defend the 3-point line and let Nash get his points.
Also, is slow start strong finish in games a strategy and Pop said basically it was, as long as they don't get off too slowly at the beginning.
Pop agreed with Don and Walter that teams are treating Tony just like Avery was treated. Tony is really doing well in knocking down his shots when teams leave him open outside.
What's the biggest difficulty over the next week? It's mostly matching the intensity of the opponent. All the opponents coming up want to show something...it's an emotional time and the Spurs will need to match that.
This road trip shouldn't be as difficult as the last one where they played 4 games in 5 nights, etc. They should have a little more recovery time with the exception of the Denver game.
Thanks for the narrative. Can't listen here at work.
the nash strat was money!
Yeah, Thanks mucho SolidD!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was just a variation on the Amare strategy: You can have anything you want, Phoenix, as long as it isn't a 3 pointer.
Shooters almost always need shots to stay in rhythm, and by making Nash (and Amare for that matter) take more shots, it takes away from the rest of the team's flow.
This is less noticeable with Nash since it is hard to force him to do anything, but with Amare in there it was palpable.
SolidD, I think you deserve another Spur for being such an awesome poster and contributer to the forum![]()

Thanks, ya'll. The Pop Show is usually on Mondays or Tuesdays around 4:30 PM Central on the Ticket760. They cannot really do the show on one set day of the week because of travel and dynamic schedules for the team.
Great executive summary. Thanks, D.
Much appreciated Solid D, I'm always working when the Pop show is on 760 and apprecate the recap!![]()
