Here's to one of the greatest offensive linemen to ever play football. A Hall of Famer. Thanks for the memories, Larry!

Kyle Kosier is probably going to replace Larry.

I'd look for Stephen Peterman (3rd rounder from the same draft that netted us Jacob Rogers... puke) and possibly Gurode to compete for that spot with Kosier. OG just jumped up on the priority list in the draft as well. I wouldn't pencil Kyle Kosier in just yet.

Those guys may play the position Larry is vacating, but they won't "replace" Larry Allen.

Cowboys should've kept him. I can't believe it. I was sure that Larry Allen would've played his career out as a Cowboy and not have to go to another team. But then again, I thought the same thing about E.Smith.

I'm sorry, but that was a freakin re ed move...clearly one of the Cowboys biggest needs this year was the OL...so we go out and sign a couple of players and release our best one??!! Even today L.A. is better than the two guys we signed!

    Terrible loss....

He can still be re-signed by Dallas. I hope he is. The last link to the Triplets era.

Best O-lineman in the history of Cowboys football, period. Shame to see him go. Yeah he was slowing down some, not able to get out and pull from that LG position like he used to, but he was still damn good. My only hope is that Dallas can sign him back instead of him signing with another team.

no way there re-signing him, they cut him for salary reasons

I still disagree with this move, didn't think saving 3.5 MIL was all that important when we had plenty of cap room left and there aren't many big time free agents left for us to use it on.

Your offensive line needs to be deep. Injuries always happen on our line.
If we are counting on Gurode for anything more than depth and Peterman for anything at all we are probably in sad shape.

Gurode has been here 3 years and has yet to move beyond the stage of having "potential", and in fact has often drawn pretty harsh criticism from Parcells. I don't think Parcells sees him as a starter, although given the options it's possible Gurode could start some at center like he did last year.

Peterman has yet to prove he's even worth a roster spot.

They can re-sign him at a lower salary.

If Steve Hutchinson signs elsewhere I hope the Seahawks pick him up.

Yep. The Cowboys cut him before the deadline to give him time to shop around, so there are no burned bridges. Allen can come back if he doesn't get a better deal from someone else.

I'd take him as a coach even if I didn't want him as a player.

Allen just signed a deal with the 49ers tonight which makes the whole thing even worse. Seeing him in a 49er uniform will be hard to watch.

Well, you'll only have to watch for the regular season.

I was having a discussion with my cousin last week about the Cowboys and we got to talking about Erik Williams. I do remember Erik Williams but I remember my cousin told me that Erik Williams was a better player and more dominating than Larry Allen.

But if Erik could only let the blow go he would be a HOF player. He told me that EW dominated Reggie White at one point which I don't really remember.

Erik Williams was too busy getting false start penalties to dominate.

Yes...Williams was #79...he was also famous for the "Erik Williams Rule" when O-Lineman push their hands up into the defenders faces....yup..he was notorious for that too!

He did dominate Reggie White, and he won a NFC Offensive Player of the Week for it after one game. He was never the same after the car wreck.
