I went to the various Denver newspaper web sites trying to find their take on tonight's game. Nothing. Zip. Nada. But I *did* find an amusing display of just how clueless McNugget fans are ...
The Rocky Mountain News has a "fan poll" to rate the best teams in the L. As you might expect, they rate the home team first. But check out the rest:
Readers' rank Team (First-place votes) Points
1 Nuggets (1234) 15900
2 Suns (32) 13298
3 Warriors (86) 13249![]()
4 Clippers (77) 13144
5 Sonics (1) 12668![]()
6 Jazz (2) 12653
7 Blazers (1) 12632![]()
8 Kings (1) 12331
9 Wizards (2) 12260
10 Pacers (2) 12170
11 Bucks (1) 12168
12 Magic 12151
13 Hornets 12139
14 Bobcats 12076
15 Raptors 12052
16 Hawks 12013![]()
17 Celtics (3) 11919
18 Bulls (3) 11895
19 Cavaliers (4) 11866
20 Nets (1) 11499
21 Pistons (44) 11240![]()
22 Heat 11053

25 Knicks (1) 10626
26 76ers 10618
27 Mavericks (7) 9882
28 Rockets (3) 9517
29 Spurs (743) 8287![]()
30 Lakers (15) 1489
Spurs have 7430 points from 743 first place votes, <1000 from the other 1500+ voters ... meaning at least half didn't consider SA a top ten team.![]()

Ah. Denial at it's finest.
I defenatley agree the Hawks are better than us, after all...
Ok this is too hard, I give up, we are better than Atlanta
If the Warriors made the playoffs, they might sweep all 4 teams.
I'm actually surprised the Pistons only got 44 first-place votes. They're arguably as good as the Spurs this year, yet they got fewer votes than the Warriors and Clippers? That's the strangest poll I've ever seen.
Was this poll taken at the Special Olympics?
New York Knicks are way to low on this list. They don't belong down there with Mavericks and Pistons!!!
Ooh....still bitter after last years playoff exit, I see.
That's just bizarre. I'm inclined to think they did something wrong in the tabulations.
I believe you guys are reading it wrong. In parenthesis, that number indicates how many people voted for said team in first place. In which case...Spurs are #2, behind the homeristic voting of Nuggets fans.

Readers' rank Team (First-place votes) Points
Spurs (743) 8287 ---743 first place votes, 8287 points total (not sure what the points indicate)

Pistons (44) 11240---44 first place votes

Blazers (1) 12632---Tlong's lone first place vote![]()
Actually, the Nuggets are #1 with 1234 1st place votes.
And the paper ranks the teams 1-30 in order of total points. I think that's what it's supposed to do. I think there was either an error or a bunch of Nuggie heads with too much time on their hands stuffed the balloting.
Someone really needs to send this to the tv crew for tonights game, not that they would mention it, but I wouldn't mind hearing and inside joke over the air.
To put it nicely this makes everyone at that newspaper look like Idiots for keeping it up there. It's almost as bad as BSPN leaving the Spurs off of the 2006 Champions Poll.
You're right, Nuggets would be #1. Like I said, I'm not sure about the points...but I believe their point in the poll is answered by the # in parenthesis. They were asked to rate the best teams in the league...and the number in parenthesis indicates how many people voted for said team as the best in the league. That points number next to it is a little whack.
EDIT: I can't believe i just wasted 5 minutes of my life, analyzing this dumb poll.![]()
Especially when so many threads in The Club await your analysis.
now they are laughing at your stupidity
On the bright side, we are ranked higher than the Lakers...
Thats not hard to believe, Denver hates the the Lakers more than the Spurs. Thanks Kobe.
The points are easy. 10 points for a first place vote, 9 for a second, 8 for a third ... on down to one for tenth. Explanation's on the web site.
The writers (i.e. Bernie Lincicome) over there are just as bad. They still rip Manu to this day.
Woody Paige too.The writers (i.e. Bernie Lincicome) over there are just as bad. They still rip Manu to this day.
Woody Paige is a tool.
This proves once and for all that the Spurs are better than the Lakers.
Honestly, I didn't know that many people in Colorado knew how to use a computer.
